Magazine Previews & Video Footage

The common thread through all of these are that at one point the game had two other playable characters from the TV show: Pudgy Pig and Dark Warrior. They also show alternate stages, an alternate HUD, alternate cutscene art, and character portraits not found in the final version. Also, Goldar's name is misspelled as "Golder".

Another interesting fact is that the monster Cyclopsis is known in these as "K.I. Shiny". In an earlier television script draft, the monster was known as "Knight In Shining Mirrors", a name that made it to at least one released piece of ancillary merchandise. This name carries over to the earliest available prototype (July 8, 1994), suggesting that it was a very late name change.

Interestingly, this build seems to only include Monster and Zord characters with no playable Power Rangers. The subsequent retooling and addition of the Rangers may explain why two Monster characters were removed, and why the final game only allows you to use the Rangers on designated "Rangers Stages", due to them not being in proper scale with the Zord-sized stage art.

Promotional VHS

In 1994, a promotional VHS titled Bienvenido Al Proximo Nivel (Welcome To The Next Level) was released, bundled with SuperJuegos magazine.

At timestamp 4:42, you can see some brief footage of this pre-release build in action.

Unsourced Screenshots

A wealth of (sadly heavily-watermarked) screenshots that match up perfectly with this pre-release build, notably showing a visible playable Dark Warrior. The original magazine source is unknown.
