This page details pre-release information and/or media for Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow (PlayStation 2).

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Legend of Jack Sparrow was announced at E3 2005. It was released in June 2006 in America and Europe.

E3 2006 Footage

This is footage of the game from behind closed doors in Bethesda's private booth at E3 2006. This is dated around a month before release. This is the tutorial level.

  • The camera positioning for cutscenes is different.
  • The objectives updated icon is absent.
  • Thrown weapons are usable whereas in the final game they become usable in the Port Royal level which comes after the tutorial.
  • Jack and Will have gold before gameplay begins whereas in the final game they start off with no gold.

E3 2006 Footage 2

This is the second half of the footage.

  • The Spanish opening the treasure chest cutscene is different.
  • The treasure map doesn't flash when you pick it up.

Manual

In the game's instruction manual there are some screenshots that have some differences which may be from E3 2006 or from earlier in development.

  • In the opening cutscene Jack says "I have it on good authority" as opposed to "I have it on excellent authority" in the final game. The camera position for the cutscene is different too.
  • The thrown weapons are usable in the tutorial.

Bonus Content

Some of the games unlockables which can be viewed when you collect multiple treasure maps hidden within the various levels in the cabin menu have some intriguing differences.

This shows off the boss enemy concept art which was done by Jeff Zugale and is from earlier in development.

  • Pequeno had two different designs.
  • Madame Tang had a different attire and used swords instead of fans as weapons.

Bonus Content 2

This shows off the ending storyboards which was done by Kevin Chin and is also from earlier in development.

  • Alberto Chavez cries and then walks away from the gallows when Will and Jack are just about to be hanged.
  • Will and Jack are somehow freed and an explosion happens near the executioner.
  • Will and Elizabeth kiss whilst weapons fire around them.
  • Will, Jack and Elizabeth run away.
  • Stubb is not slumped over on the table in the bar.
  • Stubb doesn't hold the skull and move closer to Jack and Will. This is reversed.
  • The cursed pirates don't surround Jack and Will.
