So very stubbly.
This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion.
Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article?
This cactus is UNDER CONSTRUCTION
This article is a work in progress.
...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.
Notes: Analyze the video for more differences and find more concept art if possible, and replace the image of the unused fountains with an animated version.

Screenshots

The first teaser video[1] for 1.2 showcases new items, features and functions added in.

Why are they blue? PreTerraria 1-2 BlueDemonWings.png

The armor being worn is a combination of the Gold Helmet, Frost Breastplate and Leggings, dyed with Blue and Black Flame Dye. This set, prior to 1.3 granted the player an afterimage and pulsing effect, this is because the set was Red's vanity before dev armor was added.

The Demon wings seen on the right in the accessories section are blue. This is most likely an early implementation for Red's Wings before the sprite was finalized in 1.3 once the dev sets were added into the game.

Concept Art

Queen Bee

A VERY early concept of Queen Bee resembling a giant hornet rather than a bee.[2]

Cactus Town NPCs

Apparently there was going to be cactus town NPCs? Unsure what they could say or do, but they would most likely not settle outside of the desert. Presumably these were made by AaronC141, based on the art style and Cenx, one of them main developers, confirmed these are concepts for the update.[3] Similarly, cactus furniture was shown in this screenshot and was actually introduced in 1.2. The leftmost cactus person has spiky hair with dark red eyes, while the next one has a long bandit-like hat with a ginger beard and brown eyes, and the third one shows it having the pose of a static cactus and has dark red eyes as well.

Magic people cactus people.

Alternative Biomes

Similar to how the Crimson was an alternative to the Corruption, the Hallow was also supposed to have an alternative biome on it's own, called the 'Candy' or 'Confection' biome.[4] Cenx confirmed that the Jungle and the Underworld (Hell), was also supposed to have alternatives. The Jungle was supposed to have a "Swamp" equivalent, and the Underworld was supposed to have an equivalent which would be inspired from Disney's "Hercules" hell setting.

Unused Fountains

UnusedFountains Terraria1.2updated.png

1.2 introduced fountains, which can change the water color in a radius. However, out of 11 of the fountains present in it's tileset, 3 go unused in game. The biomes these fountains depict aren't entirely known, however it can be assumed that these 3 fountains represent (order left to right):

  • Sky (Represented by Storm Cloud)
  • Hell (Represented by Volcano)
  • Ocean (Represented by wavy lines, as to imitate water)

These are most likely unused as these biomes do not change the color of water, thus making them functionally useless.
