This is a sub-page of Prerelease:The Sims (Windows).

The Sims: Superstar was the first Sims expansion to feature real-life celebrities... aside from Drew Carey, that is.

Early screenshots show a few differences from the final game. The "Director's Turf Sound Stage" set item has the most differences. The first screenshot shows multiple other items and arches intersecting the set item. This is not possible in the final game even with cheats, and nothing is allowed to intersect with the item aside from wall hangings and certain walls/fences on the very edges of the item's grid. The item also uses a different video camera in the first image. This camera object was included in the final release as a separate, decorative item - the "35 mm FOV Studio Camera", and was also included as part of the item "The Music Generation Stage". Both of these changes are reflected in the second, presumably later image. The first image shows a more rudimentary design of the "Doorless Arch" archway object and an earlier version of the Superstar "Plastic Terra Cotta Housed Phone" object with a yellow phone. It also shows an unused barrel that is not included in the final release, though a similar, more detailed barrel object was included in the subsequent expansion Makin' Magic, there labeled as the "Authentic Barrel by Amos T.R. Cooper Inc." Both prerelease images feature a different, more rudimentary staircase. The final item repurposes the "12 Steps in Stone" stairs from Livin' Large.

Similarly to the previous screenshots, this one shows an earlier version of the "Actionworks Televison Studio Hospital Set" object with the alternate camera. In the final, the camera was replaced; the new camera was also made available as a separate object named the "Digital Television Camera".
