To Tame A Land was originally written for DOS in QuickBasic in 1992. It was eventually released on the author's website in HTML5 form in 2012.

A separate file on the disk called TTALSCRN.BAS could be used to edit levels and place enemies, but required Microsoft QuickBasic.

One of the features of the editor was to build a composite map of all the levels representing the 10x10 tile images as a single pixel.
