Hmmm...
To do:
A lot of stuff is different from the final game.
  • Some of the character portraits are comic book styled, in which were changed to renders in the final game.
  • Some of the character portraits that are rendered, have a completely different pose.
  • This had a debugger, in which it allowed people to view models.
  • 4 cutscenes are completely different from the final game, these had dialogue changes, and other things. Compare these cutscenes to the final game's cutscenes.
    • Blaze/Method Man originally had a line in one of the cutscenes, but in the final it was removed. In which explains his mouth moving in that cutscene.
    • D-Mob originally had a Cigar in his hand in one of the cutscenes, the final removed the Cigar.
    • Hero also originally swore in the cutscenes, but the final ended up changing the dialogue to remove the swearing.
    • All characters in this build as shown here has dialogue used ingame that's vastly different and uncensored to the final build. Announcers in this build use their raw voice lines over their final build lines with the speaker filtered lines.
    • Crow was originally supposed to have a hatless version of his Pimp Outfit for cutscenes but went unused in the final and Alpha build.
  • Debug Features
    • There is a Create Player mode in the debug menu, in which you can make your own character. There is some unused clothing items that are not used in the final game.

This article is a work in progress.
...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.

This prototype, dated June 14th, 2004, predates the game's official release by about two months. Most of the unused content found is in the files of the build.

General Differences

Title Screen

  • The game has yet to be rated by the ESRB, so the title screen uses a Rating Pending rating.

Cutscene Changes

This build has some notable cutscene changes, notably in the dialogue in which the final game toned down.

Additionally this build has placeholder subtitles which are enabled automatically.

Cutscene 1

This cutscene can be seen after you beat Trejo in the story mode, there are some notable changes.

Jun 14 2004 Prototype Final Game
  • Hero says "Fuck that" in the Alpha instead of "Forget it" in the final game, in fact even the facial animations are completely different here.
  • D-Mob has no blood on his face.
  • Lighting for the police lights are completely broken in the Alpha build.

Cutscene 2

This cutscene can be seen after you beat Lil' Flip in the story mode, there are some notable changes.

Jun 14 2004 Prototype Final Game
  • Hero says "Get the fuck out" in the Alpha instead of "Get the hell out" in the final game.
  • Hero's grunting is delayed.
  • The music is different.
  • Hero's facial expressions are completely different, shown to be more expressive than the final game.
  • Pockets is seen as a placeholder model for Magic.

Cutscene 3

This cutscene can be seen before the fight at the powerplant when you are fighting for Crow in the story mode, there are some notable changes.

Jun 14 2004 Prototype Final Game
  • Blaze is shown to be saying "What the fuck?" in which the line was later removed from the final game. His lip-sync for this line is leftover in the final game.
  • The music is different.
  • Rain sound effects are missing.
  • The same goes for the rain itself, in which is also missing.

Unused Character References

There are several references to cut playable characters hidden in the files of the game.

Kurupt

Djffnyproto Kuruptname.png

The name of the artist Kurupt can be found in the files of the game, and is shown when selecting Slick Rick. This suggests that Kurupt was planned to be included in the game as a playable character, but was replaced by Slick Rick relatively late into development.

S-Word

Djffnyproto swordgraphic.png Djffnyproto swordicon.png

An icon and graphic relating to the artist S-Word can be found in the files, and was evidently planned to make a return to Fight For NY after appearing in Vendetta.

LL Cool J

Djffnyproto llcooljicon.png

An icon for the artist LL Cool J can also be found in the files, suggesting he was going to appear as a playable character. This would explain the appearance of his song Mama Said Knock You Out in the final game's soundtrack. Due to Flava Flav switching over to D-Mob's Crew, it's possible that LL Cool J was originally planned to be the representative for D-Mob at the Terrordome.

DMX

Djffnyproto dmxplaceholder.png Djffnyproto dmxicon.png

The artist DMX has a placeholder graphic and Icon in the files of the build, using concept art from the previous game Vendetta, where he first appeared.

Kelis

Djffnyproto kelisgraphic.png ChooseCharacter thumbnails.ssh 236-standard-scale-2 00x.png

A character graphic and icon of the artist Kelis can also be found in the files. Evidently, there would've been 5 playable females in the final game if she was included.

Unused Models

Early D-Mob Model

Hmmm...
To do:
Rip the model.

An early version of D-Mob can be seen in one of the cutscenes, in this build via a debug mode. The model was later changed in the final game.

Debug Input

When the player is in a match, if they were to input L1, L2, R1, and R2 in the following order, their opponent will instantly be KOed. This is likely a leftover debug input for quickly finishing matches.
