This is a sub-page of Proto:Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time & Darkness.
A kiosk demo for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers Of Time & Darkness was dumped online, which has shorter gameplay and various differences compared to the final game.
Demo Specifics
- When booting up the kiosk demo, it randomly picks between starting up the Time or Darkness version.
- The player character in the Time version is a male Piplup with a Turtwig partner. In the Darkness version, the player is a female Pikachu with a Chimchar partner.
- The demo starts at the scene of Chatot explaining the Job Board and providing Spoink's mission. This scene is unaltered compared to the final game.
- Drenched Bluff is the only dungeon that can be explored in the game.
- Because this is the first dungeon in the demo, all the tutorial messages that would normally be shown in Beach Cave (the first dungeon of the final game) are now shown in Drenched Bluff instead.
- Both the player character and the partner start at level 12 in the demo, a level the player is unlikely to reach this early in the game.
- In the dungeon menu, the options ‘Others’ and ‘Rest’ are disabled.
- After finishing the dungeon and finding Spoink’s pearl, Spoink thanks you, exactly the same as in the final game. After this, the demo ends with a short thank you screen, shown below.
- As is common kiosk demo practice, the demo also ends and resets after a certain time period.
Intro Cutscene
The intro cutscene can be skipped by the player in the demo. In the final game, the intro is unskippable until a save file is present.
Title Screen
The demo version's title screen is exactly like the final US version, but with the word ‘demo’ added to it.
