This is a sub-page of Proto:Pokémon Platinum.
Early Platinum prototype, also known by its build number of r1685.
This article is a work in progress. ...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes. |
To do:
|
Copyright Screen
July 17, 2007 (r1685) | Final (JPN) |
---|---|
- For unknown reasons, the first copyright year in the Pokémon line is 2002. This would be left over as late as the May 15, 2008 build.
- The red shading used in the final version is not present, thus looking closer to the copyright screen in Diamond and Pearl.
- The opening sounds are the same as Diamond and Pearl.
Title Screen
July 17, 2007 (r1685) | Final (JPN) |
---|---|
- The early Japanese logo is less polished.
- The copyright text is in a much larger font with no gradient, and says "©2008 GAME FREAK inc." instead of "Developed by GAME FREAK."
- Giratina is in its Altered Forme, whereas in the final game, it is in Origin Forme. It's possible that Giratina's Origin Forme was not yet developed.
- Pressing start plays the same sound as Diamond and Pearl and not Giratina's cry.
TV Program
Diamond and Pearl (JPN) | July 17, 2007 (r1685) | Final (JPN) |
---|---|---|
- The background and music are the same as Diamond and Pearl. However, the text is completely different from both Diamond and Pearl and release Platinum.
Gameplay Differences
Diamond and Pearl (JPN) | July 17, 2007 (r1685) | Final (JPN) |
---|---|---|
- Area labels are visualized, just like in Emerald. However, the only visual implemented is the one used for water routes.
- There is no snow in Twinleaf Town yet, but the tree and short grass textures have been updated. The grass texture would end up being reverted in the final game.
- The beginning of the story is much more like that of the final version.
- The rival has a Level 7 Starly in the first battle he sends out before his usual starter. Losing this fight crashes the game, and since winning it with only a Level 5 starter is very unlikely, this is effectively as far as one can play the game without using debug features.
