A prototype of Super Mario Kart that was discovered in July 2020, dated to August 6, 1992.

There's files for the 3 main regions, with kart-e being the American release, kart-j the Japanese one and kart-p the PAL one.

Gameplay Differences

  • All 3 versions run at 50 FPS, instead of just the PAL one.
    • Because the JP and US games run slower, the Staff Roll is not synchronized to the music.

Sound Differences

  • There's a ton of audio lag.
    • Because of this, as one example, it's difficult to do a turbo as you start a race, if you only use Lakitu's audio cues.
