This page details one or more prototype versions of Wizards & Warriors.

So very stubbly.
This page is rather stubbly and could use some expansion.
Are you a bad enough dude to rescue this article?

During development, Wizards & Warriors was called "The Tale". Similarly, the Japanese version's name was "The Tale: Elrond no Eiyuu".

There are prototypes of both versions, however, only the Japanese version has been dumped.

Aside from the different logo, the prototype's copyright text makes no mention of NMK.

The prototype has a wizard on the right side of the attraction screen. The final game replaces him with a duplicate of the knight on the left, likely due to there not being enough graphics space to fit him in alongside the more elaborate Wizards & Warriors logo. While no tiles remain of him in the final game, the palette for his cloak is still loaded in on this screen.
