Psychosis is a TurboGrafx-16 shmup with an unusual-for-the-genre "battle in the center of the mind" plot, although it's mostly an excuse to have disconnected stage themes and weird enemies to fight.

The object on the title screen reads "PARANOIA" in the Japanese version, and bears an image of a creature in the US version. The latter also adds "FROM NEC" underneath the title, stretches out the "PUSH RUN BUTTON" text, and moves the copyright to the lower right corner.

Stage Order

In Paranoia, 2nd Cause is the stage with the checkerboard-pattern foreground, and 3rd Cause is the plant-themed stage. These two levels were swapped around in Psychosis.

Oh no. You DIDN'T. Talkin' to me?

In the Japanese version, the creature seen between stages animates by moving its head and hand up/down respectively... more importantly though, its middle finger is raised and the SFX played even makes it sound like its saying "Fuck you!" This was toned down in the US version, with the animation now just showing it curling its index finger away from the camera, and the SFX now sounding more like its saying "Come on!"
