What happens when you combine F.E.A.R., Half-Life, a Doom source port and some mad science and ingenuity?

Test Map

Selaco testworld1.png

Loading the map SE_TEST brings you to a large testing map called Test World. While the player spawns in a small square room with some props, a small burning fire and two VAC-bots, some much larger areas are available by using the noclip cheat.

Hmmm...
To do:
Document the entire map

Unused Map Definitions

The following maps are defined by the MAPINFO lump, but are not present in the files. Many of them seem to hark back to the game's origins as a Doom mapset called Ominous.

  • OM_JOY "Test World"

Defined seperately from the actual Test World map (SE_TEST), which is defined right under it. Uses level number 290 instead of 99, and doesn't set an invasion tier like Test World does.

  • OM_LOCK1 "Blast Furnace"
  • OM_LOCK2 "ACE Security Combat Simulation"
  • OM_LOCK3 "Some unknown Doom Level"
  • OM_LOCK4 "Ravaged Pathfinder Hospital"

Remnant debris from the Ominous days. Defines certain functions like RememberState that are already defined in the DefaultMap definition. Several of them use the RandomPlayerStarts key, curiously.

  • SE_S01 "A Secret Level"

Uses the Selaco prefix instead of the Ominous one, but features the same redefinitions as those.

  • INVTIER "Invasion Tier screenies"

Self-explanatory. Sets an invasion tier of 12, for screengrabbing convenience.

  • "Dev Maps/GLASSMAP" "Cock's Torture Forest"
  • TESTRAIN "Cocky Rain Map"

Named in reference to Cockatrice, the lead programmer. TESTRAIN naturally has the rainymap key applied.

  • DECK15 "DM-Deck15[]"

Released seperately as an example of how to set up maps for Steam Workshop release. As the name suggests, it's a loose recreation of DM-Deck16][ from Unreal Tournament for testing combat against an endless horde of enemies.
