Truth about Dana / Margarete swap

Following the events of chapter 8 where you "beat" Hugo, Homunculus explains how he swapped 2 babies from 2 different ages (Margarete Brum & Dana Wagner) and that timeline "recovered" from that accident even without the assistance of Homunculus, to which Eike responds he can't trust a word he says, considering all the manipulation Homunculus put him through.

Eike travels back to Margarete's time

With the Digipad set for one last trip, Eike returns to the 1500s to pick up Margarete, only to stumble upon an almost abandoned Lebensbaum leaving Margarete its only resident. They clear up that Margarete is not Eike's ancestress, bringing to the conclusion that Margarete wants to see the future. Eike uses the Digipad to travel with her to the present.

Digipad breaks during travel to present

During time travel to the present, the Digipad makes a strange noise (breaks), but the duo returns safely to the present. Back in the present, Eike explains that the Digipad broke down, insisting Homunculus to take a look.

Homunculus turns to dust

Upon tossing Homunculus his Digipad, it falls down and the shard that breaks from it directly hits Homunculus. Due to Homunculus having a weak and fragile body, the scratch from the shard makes Homunculus bleed until he perishes to nothing. Eike and Margarete claim this was his fate.

Considering everything in the unused dialogue above, this was probably meant to be the A2 ending epilogue, but since this was scrapped, for now there is no direct information to confirm this theory.
