Version 1.20
Released March 23rd on all platforms. Also known as the "Sights, Sound, and Speed" update.
- Added Photo Mode to the Open Zone, with seven photo filters. It cannot be used in Cyber Space.
- Added Cyber Space Challenge, a challenge mode in which you play all Cyber Space stages on an island in succession, or all 30 in one go.
- Obtaining an S rank in all challenges unlocks the Power Boost in Cyber Space, which can be toggled in the Options menu.
- Added Battle Rush, a challenge mode in which you battle various enemies, leading to a rematch with the island's Titan at the end.
- Obtaining an S rank in all challenges unlocks Extreme Mode, a new difficulty option that can only be selected when starting a new game and cannot be changed. In this mode, Sonic cannot increase any of his stats, and will die in one hit regardless of ring count.
- Added the Juke Box and Sound Memories. The Juke Box can be used to play various music selections from other Sonic games on the islands. It starts with 13 tracks, and 30 more can be added by collecting Sound Memories scattered across the islands.
- Added a new Springtime Koco option, changing all of the Koco into easter eggs. This can be selected with the new "Koco Appearance" option in the Extras menu.
- The Power Boost activation animation and the Starfall slot machine can now be toggled on and off in the Options menu.
- A quick restart function has been added to Cyber Space. It can be used with the keybind RT + LT + Select.
- When exchanging Koco with the Elder and Hermit Koco, an option has been added to use all of your Koco at once to upgrade multiple levels, instead of only one level at a time.
- If the "Homing Dash" is used in a Cyber Space level, a small asterisk (*) will be placed next to the player's time upon completion.
Version 1.30
Released June 23rd on all platforms. Also known as "Sonic's Birthday Bash".
- Added a New Game + feature, which can be used on a Game Clear save to start the game from the beginning, with all of your stats and skills intact.
- Added a host of birthday-related features:
- Added "Party Details", a feature that changes the appearance and visual effects of nearly every object in the game, adds a colorful design to the HUD, and replaces the island music with a mixtape featuring music from multiple Sonic games. This feature can be toggled in the Extras menu.
- Added a birthday costume for Sonic, which gives him a birthday hat and some snazzy sunglasses.
- Added a new Birthday Koco appearance, as well as "Friends' Party Outfits" that makes Sonic's friends appropriately festive.
- Added the Action Chain Challenge, a score-attack challenge found across the islands.
- Obtaining an S rank in all Action Chain challenges unlocks the Spin Dash, which can be toggled in the Options menu.
- Added "New Koco" to the Starfall Islands, a larger variant of Koco with unique outfits. These Koco are placed in new platforming challenges found on the islands, and are worth more Koco when exchanged for stats. Additionally, trading New Koco will extend Sonic's boost gauge, up to 5x its original capacity.
- Added 24 new songs to the Juke Box, with additional Sound Memories found on the islands.
- Rhea Island's towers have been made easier in Easy Mode.
- Reworked the island stats summary, providing much more detailed stats and overall percent completion. This can be toggled between the old style and the new style in the Options menu.
- Added a "Frontier Elite" costume, unlocked by 100%'ing every island.
- Added a control option to change Sonic's deceleration rate when boost jumping. This only applies to boost jumping.
- Added a control option to change Sonic's deceleration rate when letting go of the analog stick while running.
- Added a control option to maintain Sonic's boost while jumping.
- Unlike most of the game's control options, these additions *do* apply to Cyber Space.
- Added an option to disable the Boost music filter in Cyber Space.
- Added an option to disable "dramatic camera angles" when using Skills. If disabled, the camera will be manually controllable.
- Added more special markers for Cyber Space clear times for using various control options:
- Homing Dash: White
- Spin Dash: Red
- Jump Deceleration changes: Yellow
- Power Boost in Cyber Space: Blue
- Record times and ranks for Arcade Mode, Cyber Space Challenge, and Battle Rush can now be reset.
- A "New" banner will be shown for new content not seen by the player.
Leftover Update 3 files
A few files that are seemingly from an older build of the Final Horizon update were left in. These included older versions of the Extra Objects, NPCs, Events/Cinematics, Playable Characters, and stage layouts.
Version 1.40
To do: It appears that the new Ouranos uses some elements from the pre-release video shown in SoJ's internal meeting, like the different Caterpillar. Verify if this is the case, and scout the update for any additional changes. |
Released on September 28th on all platforms. Also called "The Final Horizon" update.
- Added "Another Story", new story content that can be accessed via a portal in Ouranos Island:
- Amy, Knuckles, and Tails become playable, each with their own unique abilities and skill trees.
- Ouranos Island was redesigned - it's much larger and has new platforming challenges (including unique ones for each character).
- A new collectible, Lookout Kocos, is introduced. The player collects them to unlock Trial Towers that must be completed to access the new final boss.
- There are nine new Cyber Space levels, which are remixed versions of various Cyber Space levels from the base game. These new levels feature multiple Goal Rings, stage-specific gimmicks, and replace Red Star Rings with Number Rings, Silver Moon Rings, and Animal Friends. Completing a mission in a Cyber Space level grants the player one Lookout Koco.
- New "Plus" variants of the Ninja, Caterpillar, Tower, Spider, and Tank Guardians have been added. These variants are significantly more difficult than those in the base game, with more attacks and higher health.
- A new version of the parry, the Perfect Parry, is introduced. Unlike the normal parry, which can be held indefinitely, the window for this parry is extremely strict.
- The final boss plays out differently: the player battles Supreme for the entire duration and never fights The End directly. The first phase of the Supreme fight is the same as it is in the main campaign, but after defeating it, The End possesses Supreme, who grows five arms and prostrates. In this form, Supreme fires projectiles that drain Super Sonic's ring count and can only be parried using a Perfect Parry. The last two phases of the fight use new arrangements of "I'm Here": an orchestral version by Tomoya Ohtani and Takahito Eguichi and a remix with vocals by Kellin Quinn.
- A new version of "I'm with you", with vocals by Gaby Borro, plays over the credits.
- The markers in Arcade Mode were updated again, replacing the four asterisks with a pentagon comprising five colored triangles:
- White: Homing Dash
- Red: Spin Dash
- Yellow: Jump Deceleration changes
- Blue: Power Boost
- Purple: Maintain boost during a jump
Version 1.41
Released December 7th on all platforms.
- Various Balance Adjustments were made to Easy Mode.
- The Trial Towers were rebalanced on Easy mode to include new level designs.
- The Master Trials default difficulty and stats were adjusted.
- The maximum Ring capacity and Titan Health in the Master King Koco's Trial were adjusted.

- If you make a mistake before a getting to a checkpoint, the timer now resets so you don't need to manually restart. But, Cyberspace Challenge is excluded from this change.
