Copy protection?

Is there any copy protection on this game? I once played it on a pirate multicart & the up/down buttons were disabled so you can't increase your speed and its effectively impossible to finish the first level in the time limit. which sounds like the kind of thing Konami would pull but I've tried messing around with a bunch of stuff on the title screen and I can't seem to trigger it. I couldn't find any evidence of copy protection in the code, and none of the multicart ROMs I tried were broken, either. Do you happen to remember which one it was? --BMF54123 (talk) 15:53, 16 December 2013 (EST)
it was on a physical multicart, not a ROM - I don't think I have it any more unfortunately but I'll have a look. Taizou (talk) 14:54, 19 December 2013 (EST)
... I think I may have figured this out - the speed won't increase if you have a lightgun connected, and I played that cart on a Power Joy famiclone with a lightgun built in, presumably hardwired to the FC expansion port pins internally. so it's not protection at all, but some odd input issue with expansion controllers, I guess?
