sigh

  • Salamander - starfield backgrounds on title screen, no in-game story, weapon tutorial, no voices telling you about body parts, conventional powerup system
  • Life Force international - stage backgrounds on title screen, in-game story, weapon tutorial, voices telling you about body parts, conventional powerup system
  • Life Force JP - COMPLETELY DIFFERENT BACKGROUND ART ALL AROUND (or at least on the title screen and first stage), stage backgrounds on title screen, no in-game story, no weapon tutorial, voices telling you about body parts, Gradius powerup system (like the NES port)

How do we handle this? - Andlabs 18:15, 31 December 2012 (EST)

The differences between Salamander and Life Force international would fit under the usual "Regional Differences" category. Not sure about Life Force JP, since it could be considered a separate game. There are other instances of "Japan-only upgrades" like this (Street Fighter Zero 2 Alpha, Vampire Savior 2 come to mind), but I'm not sure if noting the differences between those versions and the originals falls under TCRF's scope.--Felineki 16:56, 1 January 2013 (EST)

An unused graphics of Vic Viper and Lord British are found only in Life Force JP. Probably meant for the title screen, because MAME could read graphics only from the title screen. - Sledge3 16:53, 2 January 2013 (CET)

Thanks for the heads up. I went ahead and ripped that sprite. Do you think Life Force JP should get its own page ("Life Force (Japan)", maybe? We'd move the unused music there, too), or should we just add it to this page? The Street Fighter II page is already sort of an amalgam of all 3 CPS2 SF2s, so I suppose there's precedent for using one page to cover multiple versions/upgrades of a game.--Felineki 19:29, 2 January 2013 (EST)
