Join/part lines

It is actually possible to see Nanami's join and part text, if you have her in a party where she's not a mandatory member --Kahran042 17:13, 9 January 2011 (EST)

The Matilda glitch and Long Chan Chan

I was surprised to see this missing, but there's a well known glitch in this game where if you go to the gate between Muse and Matilda early on in the game, you're supposed to be forbidden from entry, but you can actually push the gate right off its hinges, as it's a moveable object. This puts you into a mid-game area very early on.

There's some shenanigans with recruiting some characters there early who can help you power level, but there's some cut content as well. If you go to the inn in Rockaxe, you'll find Long Chan Chan there, who you can recruit. The thing is that normally you never see him here, and instead you recruit him in a village called Crom on the other side of the world. His appearance in Rockaxe is supposed to be dummied, except that you can sneak in and see it through this glitch. (Oddly, all of his text in this appearance was properly translated!) --Hero of the Beach 00:29, 28 September 2011 (EDT)

New unused text?

I recently learned that there's apparently special text from some characters if you've imported data from Suikoden I and the Suiko II hero has the same name as the Suiko I hero. However, due to the well-known glitch where the latter's name is just _cDohl, where _ is replaced with the first letter of the former's, this will never happen. --Kahran042 (talk) 03:15, 7 August 2018 (EDT)

That's not really unused. It's not even blocked off completely due to the bug. Since the name import bug only affects the North American version, in Japan, or with any of the European versions, you can still encounter those lines. It's also possible to encounter them in the NA version with some planning. The "TcDohl" glitch with the names isn't exactly that. They made an error in the code that causes any lowercase characters to not be copied from Suikoden 1, and they didn't bother clearing the default "McDohl" string that comes with 2. That famously leads to "TcDohl" for people who went with the semi-official translation, "Tir," for McDohl's first name. The only uppercase character is copied, and the remainder of the default is left untouched. However, if you name your Suikoden 1 character something like, "ZACHARY," that will copy fine, and you can name your Suikoden 2 character the same thing (all uppercase) and see the dialogue.
It might be worth a mention, since it's hard to access for a good chunk of players, but it's a pretty well-known Easter egg (SuikoSource has had it listed for years), and it's not exactly cut or inaccessible content. --Pyriel (talk) 17:17, 20 September 2018 (EDT)
