Well the site icon is from this game.

"Hidden in the tileset for the desert stages is a little smiley face that isn't used anywhere in the prototype, final, or Doki Doki Panic. It appears to just be a placeholder." Site icon. --Thekirbykid2006 (talk) 16:43, 13 February 2016 (EST)

Should regional differences between DDP and SMB2 be included?

So, I was wondering if we should add the differences between the original Doki Doki Panic and Super Mario Bros. 2 a.k.a. Super Mario USA. I'd be pretty interesting, cause from what I've seen, there's a lot more to it than just changed sprites, like the addition of a run button. However, since DDP is in a separate article and is nearly a different game entirely, is it worth covering on the page? The preceding unsigned comment was added by Snessy the duck (talk • contribs)

Typo in waterfall speed comparison?

https://tcrf.net/index.php?title=Super_Mario_Bros._2_(NES)&oldid=601835#Regional_Differences "The waterfalls in Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic moved at 10 frames per second. To reduce risk of seizures, they were slowed down in Super Mario Bros. 2 to 20 frames per second."

Are the numbers 10 and 20 switched in this sentence? Mouser (talk) 18:27, 15 September 2018 (EDT)

I'm not so sure this was done specifically with epileptic players in mind, as far as I'm aware Nintendo really started to crack down on possible seizure inducing effects only after the controversy with that one Pokemon anime episode, which happened in the mid 90s. I think it's more likely they changed the waterfall speed/framerate simply to make it less painful on player's eyes regardless of if you were epileptic as there were later released NES titles such as Kirby's Adventure that still had extremely flashy visuals, which would be very strange if the goal of the waterfall change was to prevent seizures. --Anonmoosekaab (talk) 13:52, 29 September 2018 (EDT)

Game Genie code for extra animation frame

just wanted to mention something odd... the game genie code for the extra animation frame (AXNYSZTX) works perfectly on my Everdrive Pro, but it does NOT work on a real copy of SMB2, hooked up to a real vintage Game Genie. i triple-checked. weird, huh? it actually turns OFF the animation altogether, and just holds on the first frame. what's up with that? same code, but different results? Zoinknoise (talk) 05:30, 26 October 2021 (UTC)

I think your copy of SMB2 may be different. What is the exact revision you have, please? WikiPro1981X (talk)
hmm... my cartridge is the more common PRG1 revision, and i am playing the PRG1 version on my Everdrive Pro as well. out of curiosity, i tried the code on the PRG0 version of the ROM, and it also works. so i'm not sure what's going on here. if anyone reading has a real NES Game Genie, and a real copy of SMB2, please test the code and share your results. Confused about revisions

I'm having trouble understanding "While US Revision 1 was not released in PAL territories, it was used as the basis for PAL Revision 0." An NTSC game could never be released in a PAL territory (or vice-versa), right? So wouldn't this be stated more simply as, "US Revision 1 was used as the basis for PAL revision 0."? The preceding unsigned comment was added by MikeSchiraldi (talk • contribs)

It was definitely possible to release an NES/Fami game unchanged across NTSC and PAL regions; many early PAL releases for the NES are this way. (Of course, since they are not optimized, they run 17% too slowly.) I can't say if this was the case for SMB2 though. Zoinknoise (talk) 23:34, 8 February 2022 (UTC)

Code for Restoring Death Sound in SMB2?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y33rn-I-mIs&t=17m57s

Here, he talks about there being a patch to restore the missing part of the death jingle that was left off of our SMB2 due to the DPCM being silenced on music track changes, but may I please find out, exactly, what I should change in the game's ROM to restore this sound used in Doki Doki Panic?
