This is a sub-page of Unreal Tournament (PC, 1999).

And you were just a scroll away from being fired too...
Oh dear, I do believe I have the vapors.
This page contains content that is not safe for work or other locations with the potential for personal embarrassment.

Props

Tapestries

Textures for green and red tapestries with their respective team logos can be found in botpack.u. The texture seems to fit a tapestry model in Unreal, suggesting they were meant to be used with that model. Strangely, textures for the blue and gold team do not exist.

These textures can be found in Botpack220's files, suggesting these textures are very old leftovers.

Gold and Green Flag Props

Gold and green skins for the flag prop can be found in botpack.u as well. Blue and red versions of this skin are used to designate a team's base in certain CTF maps. These textures seems to suggest that maps with dedicated gold and green bases were going to be in the game at one point.

Unreal 1 Textures with CTF Logos

The CTF.utx package contains textures meant to be used to show. In it are several textures not used in the final game showing either a Red or Blue team logo on various ‘’Unreal’’ textures. Unused CTF textures can be found for the DecayedS, Mine, NailCast, PlayrShp (Vortex Rikers), Skaarj (Skaarj Mothership), SkyCity (Sky town), and Starship textures packages from Unreal.

Crypt2

Quite a few of the textures in the Crypt2 package are unused. One interesting note is that this package was meant to be used in the original ‘’Unreal’’, but was cut from the final game when the levels that used it were removed. An exact copy of this package’s contents can be found in the February 1998 ‘’Unreal’’ prototype. It seems that Epic simply repackaged the old Crypt2 package from the February 1998 prototype and used it when making levels for ‘’Unreal Tournament’’.

Indus1

Indus1 has three unused skybox textures. The first set is a series of canyons with clouds at the bottom of them that look somewhat similar to the skyboxes seen in ‘’Unreal’’, the second set is a night time version of the same skybox, and the last one is another set of canyons, but without any fog at the bottom. What appear to be bottom tiles for the daytime skybox are included in the package.

Indus2

Indus contains an unused futuristic texture with a blue circle in the middle of it, an old and decayed looking stone design that is called a "clock" according to the texture's name, and two pieces of an unused skybox that appears to take place at night.

Indus 3

Indus3 contains some unused textures for AS-HiSpeed, which are a texture made out of a 3D render called “Tank1”, along with blurred images of trees that are presumably meant to simulate motion. The trees could’ve actually meant to be in HiSpeed at one point or were used for testing how blurring would look simulating motion in the map.

Indus5

Indus5 contains three unused textures for the helicopter in AS-HiSpeed. The first texture is much less detailed than the final one and has a green body instead of the grey/brownish one the final helicopter has. The second one is a black version of the used texture, while the third texture is a tan version of the used helicopter.

RotatingU

Unrealtournamentrotatingu.gif

The RotatingU package consists of a rotating version of the game's logo. What it was meant to be used for is unknown.

ShaneCastle

ShaneCastle has some unused stained glass textures. The first one is a darker and more detailed version of the nude angel seen in maps like DM-Tutorial that looks like it was painted instead of being made out of stained glass, whereas the other one is a more traditional-looking and fully-clothed angel that looks like she might’ve been scanned from somewhere.

One interesting bit of information is that the nude demon stained glass image has a very similar name to the unused nude angel image. The nude angel image that's actually used has a completely different filename.

UT_ArtFX

The UT_ArtFX package is filled with textures for graphical effects, such as bump mapping, that don’t appear in the final game. None of the graphics in it are used in the final game. However, many of the textures are used in a demonstration map that came with the Botpack220 prototype, while one of the textures was used as a part of the background menu map at one point. A small sample of the textures in the package can be found below.

UTtech3

UTtech3 contains an unused gag poster for the US Marines featuring CliffyB’s head photoshopped into a futuristic soldier outfit.
