This article is a work in progress.
...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes.

This page details one or more prototype versions of AngrySonics/Sandbox.

The March 17, 2004 prototype of SpongeBob SquarePants: 3D Obstacle Odyssey was available on Shockwave.com in 2006, predating the final version's files by over a month. It can be downloaded on archive.org here. However, the game appears to be unstable, as on some devices, the game will crash on startup with an "Memory access violation" error.

General Differences

  • The text is larger and uses a different font. (BikiniBottom-Regular)
  • The countdown timer ingame has a purple glow behind it.
  • Clock is completely different as well as the sound effect for picking it up.
  • The sound effect for picking up double bubbles is the same as the ones for regular bubbles.
  • Patrick's bonus board cutscene is lacking a pile of Krabby Patties. Mr. Krabs' cutscene is longer, and SpongeBob doesn't fall off.
  • Squidward and World Complete cutscenes have final countdown beeps.
  • In the Hall of Fame, the lowest score for Bikini Bottom is by Mike, presumably Mike Boeh, one of the developers.
  • Periods in the Blue Abyss section of the Hall of Fame are replaced with F's.

The title screen is identical to the one seen in the final version. However, it lacks the Play button and copyright information. "Watch SpongeBob SquarePants on Nickelodeon" is not present. The game is also referred to as "SpongeBob's Obstacle Odyssey".

The borders are a different hue of yellow.

Music

No music plays anywhere in the worlds, despite files for them existing in the "audio" folder. The music for the worlds are also slightly cut off at the start and end.

Bikini Bottom/The Blue Abyss

The music for Bikini Bottom has a noticeable maraca. The Blue Abyss uses the same music as Bikini Bottom, presumably as a placeholder.
