``GT3 Store Demo 2 menu documentation``

Hidden away in the depths of GT3.VOL in this demo are many, many, many menu files that go unused, all of which demonstrate what would become Polyphony Digital's eventual vision for the final game.

gt_mode.mbl

gt_mode.mbl is, as its name would imply, the base menu setup for what would eventually become the final game's Gran Turismo (or Simulation) Mode menu system. Most of the things here, barring the obvious Gran Turismo Mode button and the Load and Save Game options, don't function in any capacity. Selecting Arcade Mode or Option crashes the game as it tries to load in data that it doesn't know is there.

The real meat and potatoes of this menu is the namesake Gran Turismo Mode menus, which showcase a barely functioning yet all-too familiar list of options that would mostly go used in the final game.

My Home

The My Home menu is an interesting menu for sure, with a really incomplete layout and with no real functionality to speak of. Still, it's really interesting to at least look at.

The Garage option is the only option here that functions. With that said, it's still quite bizarre in its own right. First and foremost, the garage contains a Honda Civic Type R (EK), a Chrysler Viper GTS-R and eighty Mazda RX-7 Type RZs in it.

With that, selecting any car will bring up a very rudimentary menu which is intended to show the car and the specs of said car, featuring a reflection map intended for said cars to use... well, if the menu worked at this point, anyways.
