This article documents the Rez prototype titled 'Build 836' that was leaked by an anonymous user on the now defect Underground Gamer.

Overview
Build 836 was compiled on June 1st, 2001, months away from the November 22nd, 2001 release date. There are 5 areas in this prototype, just like the final game, but Area 2, 3 and 4 has the music and sound effects as Area 1, while Area 5, Boss Rush, and the final fight has absolutely no music, only sound effects. [May not be accurate, but will look into this once I actually replay the prototype and not write about it instead.] There is absolutely no save functionality added, there's a good amount of missing content from the final that has not been made yet during this build's release, and there's a creepy girl in the options menu.
General
Splash Screen
The introduction video to this game is not existent, as it goes straight to the main menu after the loading screen. Certain noticeable differences include a different loading screen where instead of displaying an 'orange butterfly', you are greeted by a loader cited as 'Project Eden' by 'Ovum INC.'

Menu
Build 836's menu has a much different interface compared to the Final game's menu. One thing you'll notice is that the final game's title is non-existent, and is titled 'Vibes.' There are multiple options (but one is not functioning correctly and just brings you to the first area.) including a 'demo' selection where you're able to see playthroughs of said areas you've selected. Instead of using the byte 0x8C28E08D like you can in the final game to open the Gindows debug system, it instantly opens once you're at the menu. You can close this down by using a secondary controller and pressing 'B' to open the Gindows menu and close the console.

Another notable difference is the Options menu features a (quite haunting, if you ask me) 3D image of a girl dressed in all black, holding a doll. This is actually a widely spread stock image that the developers possibly added as a inside joke with the other developers. (Thanks Krvavi for pointing this out!)
