Garbage Bins

Clipping Out of Bounds

Hmmm...
To do:
There are way more, but should all be listed or only the more relevant ones?

When Jimmy leaves a garbage bin, he will be facing the same direction as the camera, but if it is facing a wall or anything with collision, he will leave from the original direction he entered.
This system is solid for the most part, but the collision detection is not strict enough when deciding which direction to make Jimmy face in the latter case.
For example, any garbage bin in front of a wall that doesn't extend from the sides can be exploited by carefully placing the camera in a way to get Jimmy stuck in a wall as much as possible, at which point the game will start ignoring its collision.

Garbage Bin Notes
The garbage bin in the parking lot is the most infamous, as it allows leaving the School during Chapter I.
This way the normally-unseen barricade blocking access to the Carnival can be spotted.
The garbage bin in the Boys' Dorm hallway allows for entering one of the other rooms,
revealing an otherwise-unused mechanic of the player being respawned in their room when out of bounds.

Disable Gravity

Hmmm...
To do:
Technical explanation.

Stuffing a ped into a garbage can or a locker after crouching will keep Jimmy locked to them and disable his gravity and ability to jump.

Jimmy's state can be reset by performing various actions such as switching to a weapon or punching.

Bicycle Marbles Glitch

The player must have any kind of bicycle for this.

Throw some marbles around the bike and get on it. Once Jimmy gets on, he won't be able to move and will be "hit" by the marbles while his health decreases, until the marbles disappear.

Bed Glitches

Throwing a stink bomb near a bed, or marbles on top of it, followed by placing a firecracker on it, will cause Jimmy, once going to sleep, to get hit by the firecracker and repeatedly take damage from either the stink bomb or the firecrackers.

Mr. Luntz's Broken Broomstick

Occasionally, Mr. Luntz will spawn on the school grounds, sweeping the sidewalk with a broom. If the player picks up this broom, it can be used as a melee weapon, and after a few hits, it will break. This broomstick exhibits some "broken" behavior: hitting people with it will have no melee effect, and while wielding it, Jimmy's arms might get in an A-pose state while the rest of his body works as normal.

Dragon's Wing Comics Game Freeze

In the comic store, enter and exit the purchase menu and then jump against Zack to make him hostile, this has to be done as physical violence normally gets Jimmy kicked out of the place. Then, have him attack Jimmy in front of the nerds and they will step in to defend Jimmy if the player's respect is high enough. This can take a while, as the nerds are usually quickly busted, but eventually, they will knock out Zack.

After Zack is knocked out and has despawned, attack one of the nerds. Instead of getting berated and teleported outside of the shop, the game will freeze and will have to be reset.

Accessing Locked Doors

It is possible to access any part locked by a non-interactive door/gate, that NPCs can interact with.

To do so, the player needs to park a bicycle by the area they want to get into and wait until someone steals it, wait until they're halfway through, and steal the bicycle back.

Get to Blue Skies Industrial Park and New Coventry Early

Hmmm...
To do:
Not really a bug. Just the devs getting unlucky with collision, so it's probably better fit for the Leftovers and Oversights page?

In Chapter II, it's possible to get to Blue Skies Industrial Park and New Coventry early.

The player must head to the pathway leading to a small beach near the school entrance, and jump onto the rocks until Jimmy finds himself swimming inside one of them. Navigating through the rocks will have to be done carefully, otherwise, Jimmy will get knocked out.

If the player manages to reach the shore of Blue Skies Industrial Park, it's possible to get tattoos and complete the final Go-kart race early in the game.

To reach New Coventry, the player needs to either jump across the broken bridge from the industrial district or swim to the shore of the place. The player can get haircuts or clothing at The Final Cut before Chapter III.

To get back to Bullworth Town from New Coventry, the player will need to go through the chopped-down tree at the back of the abandoned motel or through the construction area under the train tunnel so the game can be continued normally.

Softlocking

Hmmm...
To do:
Technical explanation.

Busted During Mission Completion

Certain missions let Jimmy move while mission completion text is showing on screen.
Getting busted or knocked out during those moments can cause Jimmy to stay on the ground forever, and not even pass out at 2 am, softlocking the game permanently and allowing the normally-unviewable early morning timecycle to be seen, as a side effect.

It can be done:

  • In Slingshot, The Eggs, and others, if done just before the text disappears.
  • In Glass House, if done at any time as long as the text is on screen.

Grappling Peds Interacting with Doors

Grappling a ped still in the state of interacting with a door will freeze both the ped and Jimmy.
Unlike the previous, however, Jimmy will eventually pass out at 2 am, resetting him properly.
