Desert Track Glitch
This glitch requires at least two controllers and any of the special tracks, other than original Excitebike, unlocked. Select one of the special tracks and highlight 2 Player, 3 Player, or 4 Player and press B. Then select the desert track and you'll be taken to the character select with multiple players instead of single player. Select your characters and the race countdown will begin. The game will crash very shortly after this but if you pause and restart the race, it will now be in split screen. Since the desert track was never meant to be played in multiplayer, only player 1 can move, there are some graphical glitches, the game suffers from slow down and is very prone to crashing.
