Bugs:Sonic Adventure 2 (Dreamcast)
This page details bugs of Sonic Adventure 2 (Dreamcast).
Extra Hunting Items
In a Knuckles or Rouge level, if one of the hunting items (Chaos Emeralds, Master Emerald shards, or keys) is inside an enemy and you destroy that enemy without making physical contact with it, the item will be floating at the spot of its destruction. What's more, if you proceed to die, on the next life that item will still appear at the same spot you destroyed the enemy before! All three items will still be reshuffled and put in new locations, so in that case the remnant item is an illusion: collecting it doesn't count for one of the three you need to find, and it doesn't even give any points.
You can destroy enemies at a distance by having another one shoot it with bullets (but not lasers), letting it get caught in the explosion of a thrown or dropped bomb, digging up a bomb panel from the ground yourself, or most straightforwardly, throwing Omochao or another projectile at it.
Glitch Chao
As the name implies, the Glitch Chao is the result of the game failing to write the data for a Chao's appearance. It appears as a normal colored Chao, but the model is horribly bugged, sometimes with polygons so big to limit the player's visibility or crash the game. Fortunately, this glitched appearance is only temporary. Once the Chao evolves, it will revert back into a normal Chao with the color it was supposed to have.
To create a Glitch Chao, use one of the two methods:
- Turn off the Dreamcast while the Chao is hatching from its egg (or if the game unexpectedly crashes during the hatching).
- Transfer any type of Chao from Sonic Adventure to here via the Chao Transporter, in which the Chao will be given the name "DUMMY" in the process.
This was fixed in the GameCube version, as the Chao's appearance is generated as soon as the egg is first formed.
Chao Doctor Crash
Due to poor translation from Japanese, checking how many times your Chao has reincarnated will crash the game in all other languages, to the point of corrupting the save file. Fixed in the GameCube version.
