Bugs:Spider-Man 2: The Game (Windows, Mac OS X)
This page details bugs of Spider-Man 2: The Game (Windows, Mac OS X).
The game has a variety of different bugs. Here are the most interesting of them.
Contents
Bank Doors
Bank is the only level in the game, where almost all doors can be opened without a key card if you mash the action button super fast, it's easier with a lower framerate. To spam action faster, it needs to be set to mouse wheel up and down input in the controls settings page.
Broken Mini-Challenges
Two mini-challenges in the game are broken. One in Bronx and another near the bank in Wall Street. Bronx mini-challenge spawns 4 coins, but they almost always go through the ceiling and disappear. Sometimes one coin may spawn correctly. Lower framerate increases the chance of more coins being spawned correctly.
Wall Street mini-challenge though has only 2 of 8 coins spawned incorrectly. They should be placed atop of those red-white target icons, but for some reason they go up on the building wall, which ends up in them being disappeared.
UE Editor Element on Subway Level
If you won't get on the train in time, then this floating debugging element will appear for an unknown reason...
Broken Safe Crack Thug Animation
If you web a safe cracking thug in the bank and then attack - he will turn around, but stuck in this animation forever. He will still attack and even follow you without any attack or run animations being played. Another web attack have a chance to fix him.
Shoot Web Through Walls
It's possible to shoot web through some walls. For example, glass or force fields. For that you need to climb a wall, placing Spidey's head inside of this wall, then enter the look mode by pressing the Space button.
Untested Bank Elevator
You can close the bank elevator door on your way inside. Then the game will try to close it, but just open instead. So the door will stay opened and you'll see Spidey disappearing...
Incorporeal Electric wall
You can just go through that electric door on the last level and get only a small amount of damage. Most likely wasn't made that way intentionally, because other electric walls are solid and there's even a cutscene played when you touch this door before it's disabled, proving, that it would be solid and could make some players stall.
Broken Turrets
If you run under a turret you have a great chance to make it stuck in a position perpendicular to the ground. The turret will stop reacting to you completely.
Broken Mysterio AI
Mysterio's AI wasn't tested much. He always flies in the direction opposite to you and you can make him fall on the ground if he gets stuck in a corner. Similarly you can just avoid his attacks on the turret and defeat him in a single turret phase.
Broken Ock Barrels
You can deflect Ock's barrels on the last level using web balls, but the barrels will stuck somewhere forever. It definitely wasn't planned.
Misc
- Sometimes enemies can disappear if you run around them. It counts as a kill...
- If you jump right after an adrenaline attack, it will also kill most of the enemies around. It shouldn't work like this, adrenaline was made to specifically defeat enemies one by one, even adrenaline jump kick doesn't do area damage.
- For some reason, the garage door of Puma's hideout has a spot you can clip through. It couldn't be an intentional thing.
- An infamous Puma bug in Crystal Tower sometimes make him stuck, allowing you to defeat him early. This behavior can be manipulated, you just need to run faster, than Puma and make him run into you in a special way. It leaves some level checkpoints unfinished and if you come back in free play mode - defeating Puma for the second time will legitimately load the unused mission select.
- Cars thrown by Doc almost always don't do any damage, while it would make sense for them to do the most.
- It's possible to skip the cutscene on the last level if you break a glass in the very beginning of it from the right angle.
- Rhino in Oscorp can destroy generators, but not get dazed afterwards. For that you need to make him touch a generator from a side, while he's running.
- It's possible to defeat the final Ock without even making him dazed. You just need to jump kick him from the right angle. It's definitely a bug, because in the bank you can't even attack Ock while he isn't stunned. On train level, though, it's possible to run him around by executing a lucky attack from the right or left side. That way you can even finish the fight early by running to the end level trigger.
