Hidden Message

CaptStickys HiddenMessage.png

Present only in the 32K version is a hidden message meant for programmer Steven Riding's friends. During gameplay, type ste6502 to replace every graphic but the diver with this greeting:

GREATINGS FRIEND
OF STEVEN RIDING
>TOPMAN HIMSELF<

The diver can still move around and fire his harpoon, though his sprite's vertical position will be stuck at where it was when the message activated.

Version Differences

Two versions were released: a 32K version and a smaller 16K version. A few things had to be removed to get the game under 16 kilobytes:

  • The "starring" section on the title screen that showcases the game's enemies/items.
  • The hidden message mentioned above.
  • A "Hall of Fame" screen which keeps track of the nine highest scores and the players' names. The 16K version keeps track of a single high score on the title screen, with no player name.
