Cyber Cycles
Cyber Cycles |

Developer: Namco This game has hidden development-related text. |
To do: Is the rest of the attract mode music in the game's ROM? In-game, only the first 50 seconds are used. |
Cyber Cycles is Ridge Racer on two wheels, more or less. One of the tracks featured here actually appeared in Suzuka 8 Hours 2, Namco's previous motorcycle arcade game.

Secret Vehicles
The Japanese version includes two secret motorcycles, Bari-Pen (BARI-ペン, a penguin in a scooter) and NVR 750R-SP (a version of NVR 750R that is capable of powersliding much like the Wild Hog). The commands to unlock are hinted by the following messages, displayed after staff roll (also exclusive to the Japanese version, as it was not translated):
Message | Remarks |
---|---|
Select NeoYokohama Course and WILD HOG! Win Race with No Crash, No CourseOut. So, You Can Get Command for New Bike. |
Win a race without meeting the condition mentioned. |
ENTER THESE COMMAND AT BIKE SELECT. GRIP BRAKE Anthias:1, WILD HOG:1 NVR750:2. |
As hinted in the previous message, win a race in Neo Yokohama using Wild Hog without crashing or getting off-track. This is the NVR 750R-SP code. |
There are 6 Bikes in CybeR CycleS. Did You Play All Bikes ? |
Alternate message if you do not meet the condition mentioned in the first hint. Note that there are actually only two secret vehicles, for a total of five bikes. |
The cheats are as follows:
- To unlock Bari-Pen, hold the View Change button after the track selection screen, then highlight Wild Hog and brake three times (red/yellow bike)/once (blue/black), then the NVR 750R and brake once, then the anthias and brake three times (red/yellow)/five times (blue/black), then highlight back the NVR 750R and brake once.
- To unlock NVR 750R-SP, highlight anthias, Wild Hog, and NVR 750R in that order, braking once each time (twice in the NVR 750R highlight).
Bari-Pen and NVR 750R-SP can be unlocked together, but because the View Change button is also used to select the player's desired vehicle, Bari-Pen must be unlocked first if the player desires to do so. Additionally, if you managed to win using Bari-Pen and get yourself into the high score rankings, it will appear as anthias there, as well during the attract mode replay highlights.
Others
- As mentioned above, the ending credits appears only in the Japanese version of the game. Forcibly playing as the Bari-Pen in the English version of the game using emulator cheats will result in the staff roll appearing in Japanese, untranslated, should the player wins.
- On the English version of the game, you are required to press the view change button to start the game once you have sufficient credits inserted to start the game. This also means if you have a leftover credit in the machine after the game ends, the prompt will appear in the title screen.
- anthias has mention of it using an electric motor in the motorcycle selection in the Japanese version. While it was not in the English versions of the game, this fact is not mentioned on the specification sheet posted on the cabinet either.
- During the attract mode, the English version advertises the game's three available cameras in addition to number of linked cabinets, the two tracks and the three (regularly) available bikes.
