This is a sub-page of Development:Pokémon Black and White/Pokémon Data.
This article is a work in progress. ...Well, all the articles here are, in a way. But this one moreso, and the article may contain incomplete information and editor's notes. |
This page or section needs more images. There's a whole lotta words here, but not enough pictures. Please fix this. |
To do: .Find their internal dex numbers, names, and typing, if possible. .Determine if these sprites are from this revision, or a previous revision. .Find more prototype sprites from this revision, if possible. .Once enough data has been aggregated, turn this into a table format. This page isn't accessible from the Pokemon Data page anymore. |
A set of Pokémon sprites from the revision 22706 build of Pokémon Black and White dated March 2, 2010. Note that most of the shiny sprites were just simple black-and-white edits at this stage of development.
Early Pokémon Sprites
Name | Front (Prototype) | Back (Prototype) | Front (Final) | Back (Final) | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Cryogonal | Cryogonal has less detail overall, with the crack containing its eyes extending around its entire body instead of just being on the front. | ||||
Deino | Deino had orange colored skin and no hair. | ||||
Zweilous | Zweilous has a green and gray color scheme, no hair, and no vestigial wings. It also had a green stripe around each neck and a segmented green stripe on each side of its body, somewhat resembling scales. In the final version, the side stripes are fuchsia and run along its belly instead. | ||||
Hydreigon | Hydreigon had raspberry colored skin and no hair. Instead of six thin wings, it has two regular-sized wings with a jagged shape. | ||||
Cobalion | Cobalion had a much more abstract design, missing the "The Three Musketeers" motif, which would be the inspiration for the Swords of Justice. | ||||
Terrakion | Same notes as Cobalion. | ||||
Virizion | Same as the former two. | ||||
Tornadus | Tornadus resembled Fūjin, the Japanese god of the wind. | ||||
Thundurus | Thundurus resembled Raijin, the Japanese god of thunder and lightning. | ||||
Reshiram | Reshiram originally had a more generic tail rather than the final design's booster/jet engine theme, as well as facial markings resembling a classical kitsune mask. | ||||
Zekrom | Zekrom looked similar to its final design, but with some slight changes. Zekrom has mint green accents all over its body and tail rather than the blue used in the final game. | ||||
Landorus | Landorus was based on Inari Ōkami, the Japanese god of the fertility and agriculture, but it was designed to match the other Forces of Nature to keep things consistent. | ||||
Kyurem | Kyurem looked drastically different, with a very different body shape. Kyurem is colored with purple here, and the ice color covers most of the bottom half of Kyurem. | ||||
Keldeo | Keldeo's sprite appears to be a downscaled version of an earlier iteration of its official art, which has some minor differences from the final design. These include its head being smaller in proportion to its body, its hooves being red instead of blue, its horn being slightly longer, and its mane being crimson instead of orange. The backsprite is merely a flipped copy of the front sprite with its eye and one of its nostrils edited out. | ||||
Meloetta | File:PokemonBW 648-aria back.png | While still music-themed, this version of Meloetta has a much simpler design, with insectoid features. Meloetta's Aria and Pirouette Formes are recolored versions of the same sprite at this point; the blue sprite is the Aria Forme, and the green sprite is the Pirouette Forme. | |||
Timburr | Timburr had a different design of having yellow skin and a mohawk and wears a red bandana, holding a boulder in this version instead of a log in the final. | ||||
Gurdurr | Gurdurr had a completely different design of yellow skin with a beard, brown biceps and holds a boulder instead of I-beam girder in the final. | ||||
Conkeldurr | Conkeldurr had a completely different design of yellow skin, a white propeller mustache, red arms and is on a cloud in this version instead of holding two concrete pillars in the final. | ||||
Roggenrola | Roggenrola's body is dull green instead of the final's dark blue, while the hexagonal hole is orange instead of yellow. | ||||
Boldore | Boldore's body is the same dull green as Roggenrola in this version, while the crystals are orange instead of red. | ||||
Gigalith | Gigalith's colors are desaturated compared to the final version, with the placement of facets on its body differing slightly. | ||||
Scraggy | Scraggy has brighter yellow skin, an orange belly instead of a red one, and lacks the red scale on its head. | ||||
Scrafty | Scrafty looks more similar to Scraggy than the final version does, having paler orange skin, a smaller mohawk, and lacking the red scale on the tip of its tail. Additionally, its belly is a lighter shade of grey and goes up to its mouth. | ||||
Excadrill | Excadrill looks more similar to a Prerelease trailer with having violet skin, pink stripes going to the left and eyes facing foward than to the left. | ||||
Tympole | File:PokemonBW 535 front.png | Tympole has a much different design of having desaturated skin, pink and blue ears, a white tail and having its mouth open with a tooth. It also lacks eyebrows in this version. | |||
Palpitoad | Palpitoad has a more frog-like appearance than a tadpole in the final having brown skin with light blue bumps, a white body, red eyes similar to Seismitoad, and has two buck teeth. It also lacks arms in this build. | ||||
Seismitoad | Seismitoad has a much different design of brown skin and light blue bumps similar to Palpitoad, white body, black fingers instead of dark blue in the final, and having teeth in this build. | ||||
Gothita | Gothita has bright pink skin, violet body, pink lips instead of red and has a red sclera instead of white in the final. It also has two buns on its head instead of one in the final. | ||||
Gothorita | Gothorita has bright pink skin, violet body, pink lips instead of red and has a red sclera instead of white in the final. It also lacks the tip of hair on its head and its bows on its hair is more downwards than the final. | ||||
Gothitelle | Gothitelle has bright pink skin, violet body, pink lips instead of red and has a red sclera instead of white similar to its Pre-evolutions, and violet hands instead of pink in the final. Noticeably, it has its right foot showing compared to the final and lacks the bow on its head. |
