Dillon's Dead-Heat Breakers/Unused Models

From The Cutting Room Floor
Jump to navigation Jump to search

This is a sub-page of Dillon's Dead-Heat Breakers.

Hmmm...
To do:
  • Document the early Player Amiimal models, which wear a different jacket and has a holster.

Found in h3d are various unused models, many of which are labeled as test and dummy, and they are found in separate folders. Some of these which are earlier character models.

What makes it easier is that all of the models are separated into their own .vpl files instead of combining them together into 1 single .vpl like the previous two games.

Unused Models

outputTestMaya2016A.vpl

Leftover model from development meant to test animations. The name of the model suggests that Autodesk Maya 2016 was used to create the models and animations.

kmDummyParts.vpl

Just a flat black square.

DillonHeatBreaker-kmDummyParts.vpl.png

testball.vpl

A white sphere with "Vanpool" written on it.

DillonHeatBreaker-testball.vpl.png

testScreen.vpl

A box with an axis in the middle of it.

DillonHeatBreaker-testScreen.vpl.png

kemoGun01Mdl.vpl

An earlier version of the player's weapon they get in the beginning of the game.

DillonHeatBreaker-kemoGun01Mdl.vpl.png

Trailer.vpl

An earlier version of the trailer vehicle that the player drives for most of the game, it is green instead of being grey like in the final game.

Hidden inside the model is a floating cube.

DillonHeatBreaker-Trailer.vpl.png

miiMiyachiMdl.vpl

Looks to be a pre-made Mii. The file name suggests that this Mii was made/based off Kaori Miyachi, the Coordinator of Nintendo.

DillonHeatBreaker-miiMiyachiMdl.vpl.png

kmMiyachiMdl.vpl

An Amiimal version of the above Mii, found in kmMiyachiMdl.vpl.

It's a earlier version of the Fox Amiimal, with a red jacket, different facial features, and a earlier version of the bandana.

The player Amiimal wears a orange jacket instead, and the facial features for the mouth are hidden by the snout.

DillonHeatBreaker-kmMiyachiMdl.vpl.png

rissuHDMDL.vpl

An earlier version of Russ' high-poly character model, retaining the original eye pupil shape from his previous game's design, and has dark grey goggles. Appearing to be based on his Last Ranger model with modified textures. A few animations for this model were later modified and reused for Russ' final character model.

DillonHeatBreaker-rissuHDMDL.vpl.png

rissuHead00MDL.vpl

He also has an earlier version of the head model as well.

DillonHeatBreaker-rissuHead00MDL.vpl.png

rissuOnBikeHDMDL.vpl

Additionally, he also has a early model where he is riding his helibike, which the helibike looks the same as the previous game. The final model uses a completely different helibike instead.

DillonHeatBreaker-rissuOnBikeHDMDL.vpl.png

rissUPMDL.vpl

Another earlier version of Russ' model, this time only with his jacket and head, which are both different from the final model.

dillonHDMdl.vpl

DillonHeatBreaker-EarlyDillon-InTheMonstersRoutedScreen.png

An earlier version of Dillon's high-poly character model, with vastly different rigging around the shoulder area, has red spikes instead of bronze spikes for the final model, has no belt buckle, and his mouth is just textured without any moveable jaw.

Oddly, this model appears to be used in the Monsters Routed screen for when you complete a village mission, as a pre-rendered image, the model itself goes unused in-game.

DillonHeatBreaker-dillonHDMdl.vpl.png

dillonMdl.vpl

An earlier version of Dillon's low-poly character model, with vastly different rigging around the shoulder area, has red spikes, slightly lighter textures, and has no moveable jaw.

This early model can be seen in certain concept art for the game.

DillonHeatBreaker-dillonMdl.vpl.png

AMDpreviewMdl.vpl

Similar to the final low-poly Dillon model, but with red spikes and slightly lighter textures.

DillonHeatBreaker-AMDPreview.vpl.png

arma_tire.vpl

An earlier version of Dillon's tire model, using the exact model from the previous game but with modified textures to match Dillon's Dead Heat-Breakers design, albeit his eyes being left unmodified.

DillonHeatBreaker-arma tire.vpl.png

dummyMdl.vpl

A placeholder model

DillonHeatBreaker-dummyMdl.vpl.png

dummy02Mdl.vpl

A placeholder model for a Amiimal or a Mayor. A model with the file name "nHairdresserMdl.vpl" shares the same model, suggesting that a hair dresser NPC was going to appear at one point during development.

DillonHeatBreaker-dummy02Mdl.vpl.png

nReporterMdl.vpl

A placeholder model for a news reporter NPC that was supposed to appear at one point during development.

DillonHeatBreaker-nReporterMdl.vpl.png

dummy01headMdl.vpl

A head model exists for the previous model inside dummy01headMdl.vpl with a proper texture. It appears to look similar to a Coyote Trooper, who appeared in the previous games. Suggesting a NPC based off the Coyote Trooper (Like most other characters in the game, Weldon and Naomi which are both based off the Railyard Foreman's and The Watchers' designs from the previous game) was going to be planned at one point.

Unused Amiimal Types

Found in the model files for the Early Player Amiimals, are model parts for two Amiimal types.

Which are for the Deer and Puma species, which both species do not appear in the game.

Deer

Puma

(Discord: Nin10Doug)

cityTest01.vpl

A tiny low-poly city with a orange background

DillonHeatBreaker-cityTest01.vpl.png

cityTest02.vpl

A low-poly inside area.

Dillon's Rolling Western: The Last Ranger Leftovers

Then there's some leftovers from the wild west.

dillonPonchoHDMdl.vpl

Found in dillonPonchoHDMdl.vpl is Dillon's high-poly model of him wearing a Poncho from Rolling Western.

Dillon is never seen wearing a Poncho in the previous game, so what it is doing here in the files for this game is anyone's guess.

DillonHeatBreaker-dillonPonchoHDMdl.vpl.png

AMDMdl.vpl

Dillon's low-poly model from Rolling Western can be found in AMDMdl.vpl, the difference being that the model has higher-resolution textures compared to the Rolling Western model.

DillonHeatBreaker-AMDMdl.vpl.png

rissuOnBikeMDL.vpl

Russ' model from the previous game can be found in rissuOnBikeMDL.vpl in which he is riding his helibike.

DillonHeatBreaker-rissuOnBikeMDL.vpl.png

manjuMdl.vpl

The Scrog's original model from the previous two games.

DillonHeatBreaker-manjuMdl.vpl.png

ceiverMdl.vpl

Leftover receiver model from the previous games.

The player Amiimal character and Russ use a watch to communicate with other characters instead.

DillonHeatBreaker-ceiverMdl.vpl.png

weapon1.vpl

Gallo's Rifle

DillonHeatBreaker-Weapon1.vpl.png

weapon2.vpl

Gallo's Pistol

DillonHeatBreaker-Weapon2.vpl.png

vilA00Mdl.vpl

Bighorn the Wise's model from the previous game.

DillonHeatBreaker-vilA00Mdl.vpl.png

vilA01Mdl.vpl

Another leftover mayor model from Rolling Western, this time being an unknown mouse mayor.

DillonHeatBreaker-vilA01Mdl.vpl.png

Grocks

Folder 15 in h3d has all of the Grocks in their Rolling Western designs some of which never returned in this entry, also inside it are kart models for each Grock, suggesting this game actually was meant to be a racing game based off the wild west at one point during development, or likely used for testing purposes for the pursuit segment in the game.
