Early Paint'n'Print Menu

Entries for a Paint'n'Print menu can be found at 3E:5355:

ART FOLDER

MAIN CHARACTERS
TARZAN
JANE
TERK
SABOR
CLAYTON

ANIMALS
ELEPHANTS
SNAKES
BIRDS
CROCODILES

PROPS
LEAVES
FLOWERS
BANANAS

An unused routine at 3E:476D would print individual items using a proportional font found at 3E:720B, right over some unsuspecting background graphic. The pointer table at 3E:5325 groups these elements as indicated above, i.e. Main Characters, Animals and Props are sub-items of Art Folder, the characters are sub-items of Main Characters and so on.

Rumble Support

Though the game wasn't released on a rumble-capable cartridge, support for force feedback was included and can be enabled in the final version by tweaking the cartridge type byte in the header. Replacing 19 (ROM+MBC5) with 1C (ROM+MBC5+RUMBLE) at 0x147 will cause the game to rumble, e.g. when Tarzan is charged by a hog. It may also be necessary to fix the checksum at 0x14E from B4C3 to B4C6, depending on how the game is being run. Obviously, an emulator or flash cart with rumble functionality is necessary to use this feature. A GBC Codebreaker unit will allow rumble if the rumble is set to "In-Game", no codes required!

In a 1999 IGN interview, Technical Director Mike Mika elaborated it was cut for manufacturing cost reasons.
