Famicom Mukashibanashi: Shin Onigashima is the first adventure game developed and published by Nintendo for the Famicom Disk System.

Version Differences
The original release was split into two disks: Zenpen (Vol. 1) and Kouhen (Vol. 2). Upon reaching the end of the Zenpen disk, the game will go back to the title screen, where the player would be given the option to start the Kouhen disk.
Super Famicom
In 1997, the game was given a remake as Heisei Shin Onigashima and released for the Super Famicom through the Nintendo Power distribution service. A standalone cartridge release followed in 1998. The Super Famicom version was released as two volumes just like the Disk System releases. Included in the Super Famicom remake are ports of the original Disk System versions. The graphics remain unchanged however the music was completely redone specifically for those ports.
Famicom Mini
In 2004, Famicom Mukashibanashi: Shin Onigashima was re-released as port of Japan's Famicom Mini series for the Game Boy Advance as "Famicom Mini Vol. 26". This re-release combines both Zenpen and Kouhen disks onto one cartridge and the disk swapping is done automatically.
Virtual Console and Nintendo Switch Online
The Virtual Console releases on the Wii, 3DS, and Wii U along with the Nintendo Switch Online release in Japan combine both disks. The disk swapping is done automatically as is the case with the Famicom Mini release on GBA.
