Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn/eShop Demo
This is a sub-page of Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn.
A small demo for Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn is available for download on the Nintendo 3DS's eShop. It's similar to the retail version, but has some extra unused content and small differences.

Differences
Gameplay
- In the demo version of the game, the logo has a small "Demo" graphic attached at the bottom.
Demo | Retail |
---|---|
- Upon pressing "Begin", the player is brought into a stage select screen that only includes the Fountain Gardens and Rainbow Falls stages. The retail version instead brings the player to a file select screen.
- When a stage is beaten, the pop-up that notifies the player that they got a new patch is absent.
- After exiting the results screen, the game directs the player to a "Thanks for Playing!" screen.
Miscellaneous
- Since only the Fountain Gardens and Rainbow Falls stages are playable, the data of the rest of the stages isn't available.
- Most of the musical tracks for the unavailable stages and the new sub-games isn't found.
Unused Text
TRIAL_SHOP_ERROR
Inside every folder in /RomFS/message/, there lies "fluff.msbt", a file that contains all of the game's text. In every version of the file (Japanese, English, Spanish, French... the list goes on), there's an entry called "TRIAL_SHOP_ERROR", that displays the following message:
ショップがインストールされていません。 本体更新を行ってください。 これは開発中の仮文章です。
Which would translate to:
"The shop is not installed. Please update the console. This is temporary text for development purposes."
It appears that the message would have popped up when the player tried to enter the eShop when finishing a stage, but doesn't have the Nintendo eShop installed in their Nintendo 3DS. No matter the language file, this message is solely in Japanese.
MSG_BOX_TEXT
Like in the final build of the game, there's a file located in /RomFS/message/JP_Japanese called "test_sample.msbt" that contains a weird test message found in the entry "MSG_BOX_TEST":
あいうえおかきくけこさしす 123456789 abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvw iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii wwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Blanked-Out Entries
Dummy_00
Also inside "fluff.msbt", there's an entry called "Dummy_00", but it doesn't contain any text at all. This entry most likely contained test dialogue, but it was removed before release.
It's worth noting that this entry is the very first entry in the whole file. The final retail build game doesn't include this entry in any way.
