It's everything vs. everything! M.U.G.E.N is a fighting game engine that allows anyone to pit characters from various games (or media) against each other, with a diverse content-creating community that survived two developer disappearances. Currently, it is succeeded by the open-source reimplementation and expansion project IKEMEN (Go).

This page covers v1.00, the stable version released during Elecbyte's second stint (2009-13), as well as the associated base content included with that version.

MUGEN-KFM-Tzanko03buff.png

Found in the work/kfm folder is tzanko03buff.png, an unused sprite of Kung Fu Man doing a scrapped variant of Kung Fu Zankou shown to be ripped.

Unused Game Mode

Present in 0x9DDAC in the executable is a label for a tag-team mode ("Tag", which would have been chosen in the team mode selector) that would have been used in team matches, a feature that was never implemented. This feature was later implemented in IKEMEN Go, however.

There are also two undocumented state controller (SCTRL) commands for character scripting relating to this feature, called tagin and tagout, mentioned in 0xA1C04 and 0xA1C24 of the executable, respectively. Only tagin actually functions if programmed to a character, however, and only if a partner is present. Support for both states were dropped in v1.1, as the feature was never implemented.
