A free and open-source Unix-alike operating system primarily used in a lot of servers, smartphones and the occasional toaster oven.
While the majority of its desktop usage is arguably geared towards productivity and development, a few Linux-exclusive games (and some notable big publisher ports) have crept out over the years. Thanks in part to the popularity of the Humble Bundle, a number of Valve-led initiatives of varying success levels and the emergence of the Vulkan graphics API, Linux is finally becoming a viable alternative to Windows and Mac OS for many gamers.
