Magical Pop'n is a rather cute side-scrolling platformer featuring the bounciest, most hyperactive magical princess you ever did see. Someone get this kid some tranquilizers!
An unofficial English fan translation is available, made by Aeon Genesis.

Debug Mode

Go ahead, touch me. I dare you.

Pause the game and press Up, Down, X, Y, Left, Right, A, B, Up, Up. You should hear a "plok!" sound. Pause the game again, and you'll be presented with a debug menu. The options are as follows:

  • SPEED: Activates slow motion mode. Press Left and Right to change the number (up to a maximum of 063), and Start to toggle slow motion on or off. The higher the value, the slower the game will run. Note that a value of 000 seems to be interpreted as 255, so don't choose that.
  • MUTEKI: Press Start to toggle invincibility on or off. You'll still take damage, but the life meter will automatically refill when it hits zero. (Note that this also toggles the SNES's interlace mode for some reason, which may cause the screen to "jitter" vertically.)
  • FULL POWER: Exactly what it says on the tin. Press Start to give yourself full health, 9 lives, 99 stars, and every special power.
  • STAGE/AREA: Lets you choose any section of any stage. Press Left and Right to change the values. Stages 201-225 are reserved for special things like stage intros and cutscenes, while 226-255 seem to be unused (and may even crash the game/emulator).
  • MAP JUMP: Press Start to warp to the stage/area specified by the previous two options.
  • EXIT: Exits the debug menu and resumes normal gameplay.
