One of the dragons in the background was mirrored and the font used for the "press start button" text was altered, which also resulted in the fiery effect on the text being removed. Part of the right dragon's tail is also cut off in the international releases.

Name Changes

Nearly every character in the game had their name changed. Similarly, all mentions of Image, used in the game's story to refer to the collective unconscious and in place of the word "soul", was changed to PSI.

Info Section

The game's Info section, which listed small biographies of characters as well as information on locations and terminology in the game, was removed completely for unknown reasons. The illustration cards from the info section are still present in the international versions' files. The removal of the Info section in the international versions also resulted in the Load Game option being moved to the Info section's place on the world map menu.

Special Attacks

In the Japanese version, special attacks must be charged before they can be used. To speed up combat in the international versions, they can now be used at the cost of a small percentage of the player's health. This change also prevents the player from using special attacks while their health is at critical in the international version.

The B.S. Reconstruction Soldiers are members of the European Union refashioned into neo-Nazis, and as such are dressed in SS attire complete with swastikas. Much like their leader Margaret, their swastikas were changed to the kanji 無 (nothing). Further alterations were made to the shape of the helmets worn by the male soldiers, as well as removing the Iron Cross necklace worn by the female B.S. Soldiers along with the metal screw embedded in their palms.

Blood was removed from the walls and floors of the stage, and the pools of blood and bloody rain in Dal's study were changed to regular water and (for some reason) purple rain. The blood stains on the glass surfaces were not removed.
