Nightmare Ned is a somewhat obscure adventure game developed alongside the even more obscure Disney show of the same name. It was intended to "turn fear into fun", but mostly ended up being quite terrifying for its intended audience, despite critical acclaim for its visuals.

The game has some similarities to Humongous Entertainment's Pajama Sam.

Unused Graphics

By removing the SST files within the game's directory (which appear to be instruction files correlating to where sprites are supposed to be placed), many sprites are removed from levels. If the files beginning in 9899 are removed and the Attic level is visited, a crown will appear on a skull hidden in a wall; this crown is normally unseen. It is unknown if there is a way to trigger this in regular gameplay.

Removing the other similarly-named files also shows unobscured, completed backgrounds that are normally covered by sprites.

Character Warp Function

In the Bathroom level, pressing the number keys will warp the player to different parts of the level.

Unused Save Location

The chalkboard section of the School level cannot normally be saved in. Editing a save file through a hex editor will allow the player to load in to this section. Changing lines 00 01 02 03 at offset 00000010 to FF FF FF FF, then changing the 0C to 03, will allow the player to load in to the chalkboard.
