This page contains notes for the game Akira (Genesis).

Sound IDs

Sounds that are used have been indicated as such.

27 and 54 are blank. 60-7F are glitched entries, and their sound will change depending on whatever was playing last.

SFX

01 - Mouse squeak? Deflect noise?
13 - Guitar note?
1B - Helicopter blades.
1C - Grunting.
1D - Stock pain sound.
1E - 1C with extra punch sound. Used in platformer stages.
1F - 1D with slap sound.
20 - Slap and yell.
21 - Kaneda's laser rifle sound from the Sega screen.
22 - Pistol.
23 - Police alarms. Can be heard in CES footage
24 - Spitting or gulping. Used in Level 5(K)
25 - Menu cursor and flying vehicle damage sound. Used.
26 - Menu select. Used.
28 - Sounds like something starting up. Hovering? Bike motor?
29 - Ditto, but constantly looping.
2A - Seems to be a stopping sound for the last two SFX.
2B - 28 without the "WAOW" sound at the start.
2C - 2B with a deeper pitch.
2D - Higher pitched version of 29.
2E - "No!" scream. Used in Level 3(K) and Level 5(K).
2F - Drinking? Gravel?
30 - Lower pitched version of 2F.
31 - "Tetsuo!" voice line. Used.
32 - "Kaneda!" voice line. Used.
33 - Something rattling and breaking?
34 - Clanging
35 - Explosion. Used in Level 3(K) and the Level 5(K) ending cutscene.
36 - Tire screech.
37 - 36, but higher-pitched.
38 - Alarm that keeps increasing in pitch?
39 - Impact noise?
3A - Cannon. Used in Level 3(K)
3B - Breathing. Used in Level 4(T)
3C - Something clicking?
3D - 3C at a lower pitch
3E - Wobbling, low-pitched sound. Heartbeat?
3F - Black Pearl logo sound. Used
40 - End of 3F on a loop
41 - Seems to be an end to 3F and 40. Suggests it might've been used in-game as well.
42 - Animalistic noise? Mouse? Crickets?
43 - Gun cocking sound?
55 - Water splash
56 - Water droplets
57 - Droplets again?
58 - Water ambience
59 - Door slamming shut.

00 - Level 5(K) music
02 - Short upbeat music jingle. An unused chunk of 0B?
03-09 - Various parts of 0B split into separate chunks. 09 appears to be an unused chunk of the song.
0A - Surprise/reveal music jingle?
0B - CES In the Sewers music
0C - Level 4(K/T)'s intro split into separate chunk, this song will play 10% faster if you play 02-0A first, play 19 will first fix the problem.
0D - part of 19 (Level 4(K/T)) split into separate chunk.
0E - Ditto.
0F - part of 19 (Level 4(K/T)) split into separate chunk.
10 - Longer jingle that uses the same drumbeat as 0F, art of 19 (Level 4(K/T)) split into separate chunk.
11 - Another long jingle, chunk of 19 (Level 4(K/T))
12 - Ditto
14 - Yet another short jingle using 0F's drumbeat.
15 - Ditto

4B - Same as 00 with loop, but due to an oversight, the end is abruptly cut off and then plays again from the beginning.

5A - Sinister child-like song. Non-looping rendition of "Winds Over Neo-Tokyo".
5B - Steel drum jingle.
5C - Different, non-looping rendition of "Exodus".
