Unused Character Portraits
Placeholder | Kenji Tomochika |
---|---|
A silhouette dummy portrait with "temporary" written on it. The silhouette belongs to Persona 3 character Kenji Tomochika. This dummy portrait is used as a placeholder numerous times for various characters. This is similar in design to one later found in Persona 3 Portable.
Unused | Final |
---|---|
Yosuke Hanamura. His early portrait lacks proper shading, and the Yasogami High symbol is missing from his uniform jacket.
Unused 1 | Unused 2 | Final |
---|---|---|
Two unused portraits for Yukiko Amagi, both quite close to the final design. The proper shading is missing and the colors are brighter. Yukiko's collarbone shadow was raised for the final portrait. The first unused portrait comes with a blinking frame.
Unused | Final |
---|---|
Kanji Tatsumi. This is a flat color sketch version of his portrait, missing many features compared to the final design.
Unused | Final |
---|---|
More Kanji, this time in a yukata. The difference between these portraits is minimal, but the unused version is slightly zoomed in and lighter in tone.
Unused Sketch | Unused | Final |
---|---|---|
Two unused Rise Kujikawa portraits. The first one is a flat color sketch in the same style as Kanji's. The second is much closer to her final design, but the proper shading is missing, the colors are much brighter, and the portrait as a whole is zoomed out a bit.
Unused Sketch 1 | Unused Sketch 2 | Final |
---|---|---|
Early Ryotaro Dojima portraits. The second is much closer to his final design.
Unused | Final |
---|---|
Saki Konishi. This unused portrait is similar to Kanji's unused yukata portrait. It's slightly larger and has a lighter tone.
An unused Flat Teddie portrait.
Regular portrait of Ms. Mayumi Yamano, the first murder victim of the story. Copied for the news image of her, but this unaltered version goes unused.
An unused Shadow Adachi portrait.
Dungeon Cut-In Portraits
The portraits in this section were found among some cut-in graphics for the navigator when exploring dungeons. The larger square ones may have been intended for non-dungeon scenes, though, as is the case with Yukari's in Persona 3.
Two cut-in portraits for Naoto. Naoto's chin in the second portrait appears to be modified to some extent.
A similar set of portraits for Rise. The squished portrait here has some splicing going on, which is most evident on Rise's cheeks.
Unused | Final |
---|---|
This third portrait of Rise features a lighter hair tone and lacks a gradient on her skin. It's also vertically squished in comparison to the final portrait.
Battle Cut-In Portraits

A placeholder cut-in portrait of Kanji, which is a colorized and cropped version of some concept art seen on the right.

Final |
An early close up cut-in portrait for Yukiko.
Persona Portraits
Unused | Final |
---|---|
An unused version of Ongyu-Ki can be found duplicated numerous times throughout the various Persona portraits. This unused version is darker, and is missing a yellow gradient overlay used on many final portraits. The unused version is used for personas without their own portrait art.
Placeholder & Test Graphics
A battle-related graphic that says "trash".
A weather/news-related graphic that says "temporary".
Battle graphics for a generic-looking test party member. In Persona 3, there are mock-up images depicting a generic party member with the same design.
A dummy wall and floor texture respectively. These appear in the dungeon archives for Marukyu Striptease, Void Quest, Heaven, and Yomotsu Hirasaka.
A simple dummy texture.
This test texture translates to "Welcome to the boss room! (Temporary)".
Miscellaneous
A dungeon speech icon for the protagonist. Since he never speaks while exploring dungeons, this image is never seen.
Texture Oddities
These two textures are used for some hologram projections in the Secret Laboratory dungeon. These are actually excerpts from a French Huffington Post article about a Japanese agricultural minister who resigned.
The entire section of text below is used in the second texture. The text in the first texture is bold:
