Some early trailers and screenshots of the game posted by IGN, Official Xbox Magazine Disc 10 and shown in an obscure VHS tape showcasing the "Xbox Sneak Peeks". These videos are the earliest known footage of the game, showing few minor differences in at least three prototypical builds that would be refined and completed in the proper E3 2002 build.

Xbox Sneak Peek E3 2001

  • The game's build shows a very early version of the flying casino level, featuring the casino zeppelin with a different render.
  • Civilian zeppelins are non-existent in this build.
  • The bonus weapons such as "mini-missiles" and tesla coil is not introduced in this build.
  • The Devastator's textures are modeled after its appearance (complete to the original Fortune Hunters markings; albeit with the colors of the markings switched) from the original PC game.
  • The game's build uses placeholder music in the levels, and sound effects borrowed from the previous PC game.
  • Two test levels such as a basic open world test area and testing the "danger zone" mechanic (borrowed from the first PC game) is present.
  • The levels use a sunset background as a placeholder before their more refined iterations were introduced.
  • The game uses subtitles as placeholders for the character dialogue, a feature which would return in the X Factor Build.

Xbox E3 2002 Press CD Trailer

  • The flying casino level is shown in a more complete and refined state, complete to the casino zeppelin being given a new render and the mission objectives of the level are expanded upon on defeating a zeppelin pulling out of port.
  • The Devastator is missing its crash collision lights.
  • The Devastator's shock diamonds boosters look slightly different to the completed E3 2002 build and final game.
    • The Devastator's does not emit contrails from its propeller engines when the plane's boosters are activated.
  • The game's shading for is brighter and is in a work-in-progress.
  • The Devastator is able to fire more than one rocket that serves as the secondary weapon.
  • The game's trailer shows an incomplete version in what eventually became Sea Haven for the second and third levels of the final game; and another incomplete level that would possibly become the fourth level.
  • The trailer shows two deleted cutscenes of the prototypical version of "The Desert Mirage" level; one of the two cutscenes shows slightly different animation of Nathan jumping from the Dust Devil to recover his Devastator compared to the more-refined animation of the game's E3 2002 Xbox Promo.

IGN and Official Xbox Magazine Disc 10

  • The prototypical version of the fifth level is missing its skybox; while the lighting is incomplete.
  • The instrumentation of the game's build used a "big band" orchestra instead of the final game's cinematic instrumentation.
  • The game's shading for the E3 2002 build is contrasted to match the completed E3 2002 build.
