Early Status Bar

This preview shows an unknown map and an earlier status bar design. The status bar is taller, draws the stat titles in red at the top of their boxes instead of bottom in white, and has a title for the arms box. The final status graphic blacks out the bottom eight pixels of the bar entirely. The automap is uses a blue color for interactive linedefs instead of yellow.

Additionally, there are two oddities with level names shown: Toxin Refinery is being entered from Hangar, and Command Control's name is used for level 3. Either Plant's name was mistakenly omitted, or these strings are reading one level ahead of what they should be.

There is also no password displayed on the results screen, so the other strings are drawn with more padding between them.

Nightmare Imps

The PlayStation Doom engine supports converting any thing into a "nightmare" variant by setting the correct flag on it. Like nightmare spectres, a thing with this flag will be subtractively blended against the background and have its health doubled. While the flag is exclusively used on demons in the final game, this screenshot from Issue 2 of Maximum shows that it was also set on imps at one point in development.

The magazine describes them as follows:

"Warping in from another dimension for your blood!!!

The imps from previous Doom incarnations are back with a vengeance, but hiding in a few areas of PlayStation Doom are the more fearsome Nightmare Imps. These beings are essentially the same as their weaker brethren, but have been partially warped into the ether on their journey from Hell. Expect slight difficulties with these rarely appearing creatures, but don't let them catch you off guard; they don't die as easily and are just as deadly accurate with their fireballs."
