This page details pre-release information and/or media for Drawn to Life.
To do: Concept art. I'll grab comparison screenshots later. |
Screenshots
The following screenshots are dated to sometime in 2006, about a year before the game's release.
Village Mode
- Earlier sprites for Jowee and two other Raposa who appear to be early versions of Crazy Barks and Bubba. All three have mouths which they lack in the final.
- It should be noted it is impossible to have both Crazy Barks and Bubba in the village with a population level that low in the final, as rescuing Raposa is mandatory.
- Bubba is less rotund, and appears to have whiskers in his early sprite.
- Crazy Barks has a green inner tube and wears rings around his ears, while in the final he lacks the inner tube and wears a leaf hat. He is also noticeably lacking his moustache and beard.
- Both Bubba and Crazy Barks appear to have longer ears than in their final sprites, which is more accurate to the official art of the Raposa.
- The map layout resembles neither anything in the final game or concept art.
Challenge Mode
- The level in the screenshot is named Level 2-1, the final does not use numbered names for levels and instead gives each level a unique name.
- The level's name implies that the Snow Gate was the second gate at some point in development.
- Instead of an icon of the Hero's head, there is a pencil beside the life count.
- The score count was removed in the final.
- There is a health bar. In the final, this would be rendered redundant as damage taken is indicated by how much of the Hero's mannequin body is exposed.
- There is a counter for green droplets, which were likely an early version of the rapocoins.
- The flying teardrop shaped enemy doesn't appear anywhere in the final. It is possible it may have been replaced by the Flyin' Rabbit enemy, which is named snow_flyer internally.
- The tileset for the snow world lacks the slushy texture seen in the screenshot.
- The pine tree was replaced by a stylized tree covered in snow in the final.
Create A Hero Interface
- The color palette is stylized as droplets rather than being circular like in the final.
- There is no option to switch palettes, or use stamps or patterns. As well as no option to use a premade Hero template.
- The bland "+" button was replaced with a magnifying glass in the final.
- The "Load" and "Save" function is absent from the final.
