General Overview
Shortly after the unexpected success of Five Nights at Freddy's, Scott Cawthon would commence work on the sequel in late August of 2014. Unlike the first game, Scott would release a series of teaser images on his official website leading to the game's release, with the first teaser releasing on September 12th, 2014. The final teaser would release on November 9th. As this occurred, the game was uploaded to Steam Greenlight for community review on October 21st, 2014, and was approved two days later.
The game's release date changed several times during development. An undisclosed 2015 release date was the initial plan, but an interview would later confirm that the release date was moved to Christmas 2014. A two-night demo for the game was scheduled to release on November 11th, 2014, and an extended demo containing three nights was given to several YouTubers to coincide with this plan. However, due to an unexpected delay, the full game would unexpectedly release on Steam on November 11th, 2014.
