While the spike strips are nowhere to be found during gameplay or in cutscenes, they can be seen in the teaser trailer of the game. It is unknown whether if this is a removed feature or it is simply just a prop made exclusively for the trailer.

The in-game car brand Devils Run was originally called Demons Run.
Scrapped Proving Grounds Event
There was a 6th icon which is the obstacle race which was originally planned but scrapped to Xtreme Racing Championship.
