An application for the US Trademark for "Yoshi's Island" (Serial Number 78147443) contains an early title screenshot of Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3. The image itself has no dates associated with it, but the trademark application was filed on 25 Jul 2002, six days before the Japanese build date and 46 days before the Japanese release date.
Some of the differences, listed here as following:
- The sky is blue.
- There are clouds at the bottom.
- 3 in the title uses a different font and is yellow, just like Super Mario Advance 2.
- A rainbow can be seen here.
- Some clouds on the top of the screen have smiley faces, which aren't in the final game.
- The "Yoshi's Island" part doesn't cast shadows.
- The trademark uses a different design and is placed above the letters C and E. In the final, it's placed just above the 3.
- The "Super Mario Advance" part's color is slightly different.
