This build of Glover 2 is the earliest known, and is far less complete than even the early Carrot Team prototype. Its filename is Piko 29-01-1999.z64.

General Differences

  • Glover sports his Glover 1 control scheme in full.
  • There is no music present whatsoever in this build, only sound effects.
  • The flower fields found in the hub world have solid collision; the player cannot walk through them at all.
  • The game lacks a boot screen.
  • The player begins outside next to the bridge via a checkpoint from Glover 1, where a primitive blue cauldron can be found.

Graphical Differences

  • Many textures and some models from this build are different from those seen in the most recent build of the game.

  • The book menu uses a different graphic from the latest build.

  • The hearts are missing from the UI.
  • Some objects, such as the trees, are missing textures completely.
  • When pointing towards any objects, the sprite shown in the thought bubble is the rubber ball from Glover 1.
  • The egg uses green particles when breaking, which suggests the egg is a reskin of the crystal from Glover 1.
  • The lawnmower is green and has no face. For some reason, it travels over the pebble path too.

Story Differences

  • There is no story present in this build: you can complete the pie and rubber ball spell recipes and collect the 5 runes, but no cutscenes trigger.
  • This build uses the 5 ingredients from the early Carrot Team build.
  • There are no tutorials to be seen; not even the hub chicken exists at this point.
  • There is no dialogue whatsoever in this build.
  • The player cannot leave the hub world at all.

Map Differences

Many aspects of the outdoor hub world have changed between this and the latest build.

  • A scorpion fountain exists in the earlier build of the game. A rune can be found on its right hand after completing the pie recipe.

  • The big tree has a completely different model and textures compared to the latest build.

  • There are no enemies in the hub world.
  • The tall grass patches are not present.
  • The shovel is found outside the shed rather than inside it.
  • The loading zone for the fields is not active.
  • Some objects, such as the shed, are not level with the floor; instead, they float above it.
The shed doesn't sit on the surface.
