This page details one or more prototype versions of Jackass: the Game (PlayStation 2).
This prototype is documented on Hidden Palace.
| To do:
- Might be worth looking into if the way the game counts score for some of the stunts that had their score requirements changed.
- See if Multiplayer works and is just locked away in this build.
|
A prototype of jackass: the game was released as part of Project Deluge by Hidden Palace. The build is dated April 27, 2007, which predates the final US build by almost four months.
Stunts
Most of the stunts had a varying level of changes, including gameplay, objectives, sounds and visuals.

- Every "Wee Game" includes an accuracy counter, even when not applicable. The order of goals was changed from ascending from easiest to hardest to descending and every goal pays off $30,000 in the final game while the prototype awards $10,000, $20,000 and $40,000.
- Whenever a goal is reached in a stunt, the resulting popup text is yellow in the final game and white in the prototype.
- In the story mode, a checkmark appears next to a stunt after all five goals are reached. In the prototype, the checkmark appears when the stunt in question is unlocked in challenge mode.
- The congratulatory message after completing the final episode is missing in the prototype.
- In the final game, toggling widescreen on or off is immediate while the prototype requires you to back out of the options menu for it to take effect.
- Character Renders were not yet added as an unlockable.
- The credits are not yet finalized, the sequence is about three minutes shorter in the prototype as a result.
MTV Story Mode
The story mode is split into seven episodes with five stunts each, the order of which was for the most part entirely changed.

The prototype has an extra folder with what appear to be early character selection icons, most notably Bam Margera is included. These were removed before the final build.
A placeholder version of the animated menu background. Removed from the final version.
Textures
- dave_04, ehren_04, ehren_05, johnny_04, preston_04 and ryan_04 are not yet in the game.
- Dimitry Elyashkevich's injured textures aren't done yet and use copies of Jeff Tremaine's.
- Dave England's and Johnny Knoxville's police outfits are available in the game, just missing the injured variants.

Wee Man's hair was touched up.
Two of the photos from the unlockable Jackass crew photo album were removed from the final game. These are the only ones to feature Bam Margera, which is likely the reason for their removal.

Sound
Music
The prototype contains 43 tracks in its files, of which 20 are heard in-game while 23 are not assigned to play during any stunts. The final game has 26 tracks, but all but three songs have their titles, artists and albums left in the final game (Rockin' Stroll, Smash It Up and Broken Face). The songs that are in the files but don't play in the prototype are in italics.

Additionally, the following changes were made for the final game.
- The "Fuck Yeah" in Come On, Come On was changed to "Hell Yeah".
- Every instance of profanity in the vocals of Politikil were muted.
- The lyric "sperminator of the asshole" was changed in Prince of the Rodeo.
- The Party Boy Theme has a runtime of 1:05 before fading out, while in the final it was looped to run for 6:34 before fading out. Otherwise identical.
Director's Tips
Seems to be someone else other than Jeff Tremaine doing the voice, along with slight differences to the script and censorship.
Sound Effects
The sound cues were changed to be excerpts from Minutemen's "Corona".
- MENUFXP2.FSB is missing from the prototype. It contains three menu sound effects added to the PS2 version of the game.
- Jeff Tremaine's final voice isn't implemented and uses Dimitry Elyashkevich's voice as a placeholder.
- PDFXSB1.FSB is missing, it contains voices for the bum pedestrians.
- PDFXSOL1.FSB (Old Lady pedestrian) had two more sounds added to the archive, dive_02 and dive_03.
