Proto:Peggle Deluxe (Windows, Mac OS X)/Differences

This is a sub-page of Proto:Peggle Deluxe (Windows, Mac OS X).

General

  • Starting a new game instead of showing an screen with Bjorn introducing himself to you, the proto jumps straight into the game.
  • When starting a new game, Bjorn tells you how to play the game in a instructions dialog window, while the final simply shows a screen simply telling you to hit all the orange pegs, and that you only have 10 shots.
    • In the Prototype after starting the first level, it will show the text "Clear all of the orange pegs to win!" above the playing field, while the final has this in the instructions dialog.
  • After completing a stage, the previous master will introduce the next one, instead of the final which only has the next master have dialog towards you.
    • The Adventure and challenge completion section is present on this screen, while it's on each level completion screen in the proto
  • The locked text over the levels in "Quick Play" are different.

Beating the Adventure mode makes the game show an obvious placeholder graphic with a continue button.

Main Menu

Prototype Final
Peggle-Aug3rd2006-mainmenu.png Peggle-final-mainmenu.png
  • Stone for the institute says "The Pego Institute" instead of "Peggle Institute"
    • It faces the left instead of the right
  • Shading primarily on Bjorn is slightly different
  • Color of the "Welcome Back" text is dark blue instead of magenta like the final
  • Font changes when hovering over a menu option
  • A unused graphic for the menu buttons shows the "Solo" mode, which would be replaced with "Quick Play" in the final
  • Hovering over the "Quit" button does not dim the background, or make Bjorn cry
  • When selecting the replays button, the final shows a message if you have none saved telling you to save some, while the proto shows the replay menu anyways
  • Only menu sound present is for clicking
  • Selecting a locked mode (like Duel, or Challenge) has it's dialog box missing the yellow text, with less descriptive text than the final

Trophies

Prototype Final
Peggle-Aug3rd2006-trophies.jpg Peggle-final-trophies.jpg
  • The prototype has all of the trophies be bronze.
  • The trophy for beating the adventure mode lacks wings.
    • Proto text is "This trophy is awarded for beating adventure!", Final is "This trophy is awarded for completing Adventure Mode!"

Institute Certificate

Prototype Final
Peggle-final-certificate.jpg Peggle-Aug3rd2006-certificate.jpg
  • The institute certificate graphic itself is different
  • Font for the text field is different, not supporting lower case letters
  • Clicking the ok button plays the same sound as clicking on a menu option

Options Menu

Prototype Final
Peggle-Aug3rd2006-options.png Peggle-final-options.png
  • "Fever Volume" setting is missing
  • Bottom of the dialog box surrounding the "Done" button is different

Help Screen

  • Throughout the screen, some words are capitalized, or seen differently such as page 4 showing "freeball" & "duel mode" in the proto, while being "Free Ball", and "Dual Mode" in the final.
  • On page 3, the image for the bonus hole shows it's earlier design seen in the proto itself
  • The Free Ball scoring section uses a different image
  • None of the images on page 6 appears at all
  • Page 8 has it's peggle trophy image instead show the "Show Replay" button for some reason.
    • It has completely different text for the replay button, saying you can double click them instead of simply opening folder to send to friends.
    • This page is missing the images used to show the high score, and replays.
