This page details one or more prototype versions of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game.

A demo of the Xbox 360 version of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game was included on the disc bundled with Issue 116 of Official Xbox Magazine. It is dated June 26, 2010, predating the final build by 19 days. As typical of Xbox Live Arcade demos, the content of the full game is present once unlocked.

Hmmm...
To do:
There are many differences from the final. The current list is not exhaustive. Add screenshots or videos of different graphics, enemy placements, etc.

Intros

  • The Ubisoft logo has a completely different jingle from the final, and after playing the same animation as in the final, transitions to a still image of a stylized, pixelated logo.
  • The Universal logo plays a chiptune rendition of the Universal jingle, instead of the normal version used in the final.
  • The Oni Press logo is significantly smaller than in the final.
  • The intro music begins while the "Winners Don't Eat Meat" screen is displayed, instead of immediately afterwards.

Title Screen

Demo Final

With the exception of Roxie's lineart, the entire title screen was redrawn, complete with the loss of detailed shading:

  • Scott has a different expression, and his teeth are less detailed. Scott's eyes are also facing away from the camera and have larger irises.
  • Ramona's face was tweaked to look less worried. Her goggles are edited to protrude a bit more. Her outfit was also given more details including one of her socks and a pocked on her jacket. Her bag changed colors from blue to pink to match the strap.
  • Gideon's face was given less detail in the final, losing the lighting from the demo.
  • Lucas and Todd were edited to make look less angry. Lucas' hair was edited to resemble his appearance in the comic more and less like his portrayal by Chris Evans in the film.
    • Conversely, Matthew's expression was made angrier in the final title screen.
  • Stephen's smile was changed to a small smirk, while Kim's frown was changed to a smile.
    • Stephen's shirt was also closed up more in the final compared to his more exposed chest in the demo.
  • The logo's edges and typeface were significantly cleaned up.
  • The font and position of the "PRESS START BUTTON" text was changed.
  • Almost every color was changed and tweaked in some form, with the exception being the yellow stripes in the background.
  • The Toronto skyline details were toned down to a solid black.

Character Select

  • The fonts and text placement are different from the final.
  • You cannot select the color of your character; the default is automatically chosen.

Map

  • Location names are not displayed, despite existing in the game's text files.
  • Unlocking the sound test on the map does not save; the unlock code must be entered each time the game is launched.

General UI

  • Money does not display trailing zeros or a decimal when it is a whole number.
  • The Game Over screen only shows Scott, even when playing as a different character.

Stage 1

  • Walking near the "Snowball Fight" area will take control of your character and forcibly start the cutscene; in the final, the cutscene trigger is further right, and you can enter the nearby Subspace door without triggering it.
  • At the beginning of Matthew Patel's fight, when the player parries his punch, the parrying sound effect is not present.

Stage 2

  • Keys have no animation when used, and disappear instantly.
